Hello all. Sudently my PC locked up and upon re-boot I got the XP BSOD saying that Win could not load and to re-install or check my hardware. After about 3 attempts it started saying that Ntfs.sys (path is System32\Drivers\Ntfs.sys.) was missing or corrupted. I can't even boot into Safe mode or into the "last known working config".

I have attemped to recover by CD Rom booting into setup and doing a repair, but it gets stucked in "Setup is loading files (Kernel Debiugger DLL)" and it will stay there indefinitelly. I removed everything except the Vid Card, even though I know trhat there are no HW issues here, or should not be.

Any ideas, clues or anything else you smart PC ppl might have? I really don't want to re-format because there's a lot of stuff on the HDD's that I did not backed up. :(

Thanks a lot in advance,
Stout

I was some, but very little. Running a T Bird 1400 at 1500 or so. Dropped it to 1400 and even lower. Also running the RAM at default and everything else too.

Any ideas...

Tks again

This happened on my friends computer and I tried to repair windows with the xp cd. Reinstalled XP but didn't work. If you don't want to format your hard drive, then you can always leave your cd in the drive and let it boot from cd every time.
