NTFS on linux

This is purely a software based question, but I'll try to mention this before it gets locked :)

www.winternals.com has a program called NTFS DOS & a newer Windows 98 version. Perhaps they have a Linux version?

I'll check and if the thread isn't locked I'll let you know.

Nope. It looks like they use actual MS system files that I'm sure require MS operating systems. Oh well :(

Linux can read NTFS partitions if the option is enabled in the kernel (most distros enable it these days, AFAIK, so you won't have to recompile your kernel). However, the ability to write an NTFS partition from Linux should be considered very much in an alpha state; that is, if you enable that option and write to an NTFS partition with it, you'll probably end up fvcking up all your data and loosing everything.
