I am not a Lawyer...so I won't give you legal advice.

This particular order is a "handing off" to a chapter 7 referee.

That referee has the authority to sell all of a debtors assets (within certain guidelines, so don't worry)
in order to satisfy the debt.

Most referees won't dig to deep, unless there is a lot to be had.

SuperGroove--

No offense, but why aren't you (or more appropriately your parents) talking to your lawyer about this? This board isn't really the place to seek out legal advice--mostly for your own protection (you can't really verify who is qualified to give advice and who's not).

Good luck to you though

This is not your business. It is your parents business. This is obviously a stressful time for them,as well as you. Do not despair. Your parents can tell you more about whats going on than anyone here with only half the information you are able to obtain and post here. Let them explain whats going on to you. There may be more letters, but I'm sure they are not addressed to AnandTech Off Topic Forums. In fact, your name isn't even on it. If you where my child,I would be quite angry you aired our private affairs. Think about it. Is this about you? No.

Get behind your parents. They need your understanding and support. You know that, don't you?

Things will turn out all right. That's what Bankruptcy is for,a fresh new start. Look on the bright side. The debt will be lifted.

I'm not sure what is involved with a chapter 7 - hopefully someone will catch this later and be able to help more. I'm sure you are worried about your family and finances, especially if their business seems jeopardized, I hope they will talk to you more about it so you won't have to be so worried.
