NT server setup

I picked up NT server over the weekend, but when I tried to install it, I got some funky error message statimg that I only had 50mg when I indeed have 8 gigs.😕 I then reformated my hard drive, installed DOS, but when when I tried to get to it behing the scenes it gave me an error message saying that I needed windows to install NT server. Can it be a FAT32 NTFS issue? Does win 98se format the drive in a way that NT does not like?? .😕 Please help.

NT recognize max of 4GB as a partition, are you using regular IDE drives ? Anyway, run winnt /ox to get the 3 boot disk unless you already have it, boot from floppy and install from floppy. If you did, not sure what the problem is.. but no FAT 32.. only FAT

I'am using regular IDE drives, and I do not have the 3 boot disk. Where do I find and run the Winnt /ox from?

Run winnt /ox from inside the \i386 directory on the WinNT CD. you can do this inside dos, win9x, or NT, whatever is easiest for you

If I'm correct, NT only supports a max partition of 4GB upon installation and Pre-SP4 systems support HDs up to 8 GB. A quick workaround to make sure you use all the HD space is to create a full empty partition on the drive using Disk Administrator then install NT4 selecting that empty partition. As long as it's under 8GB limit the installation will work fine.

I had NT Server installed in a 7gig partition. NT Workstation however, won't install. Go figure.

actually, I install my on a 4gb partition, ghost it and ghost it back using the disk option and over write a 12gb parition.. there's a lot of ways but don't recommend one whole partition..
