NT 4.0 lite?

When I installed win2k for the first time last year, I used a nifty tool (nlite) that not only let me trip the crap out that I didn't want, it also let me slipstream sp4. I was wondering if there was such a thing for NT 4.0? I know nlite works for 2k/xp, and litePC works for win98, but i know of nothing for nt

I don't know of anything for NT4

I remeber buying NT 4.0 for $0.99 of ebay just so I can play around with it as i didn't it how it looks and works before, and I also remember it not installing correctly on any machine that I have so that's my experience in NT 4.0.

They kept an OS updated past 2001 and never added usb support? Sonsabitches... Even win95b had it.
Not too big a deal since i also got it cheap and just as something to play around with. Anyway, i d/led sp6 and security rollup and ie6 already. Is there anything else I should get? For example with win2k, the service pack 4 didn't include direct x and maybe 1 or 2 other things I think it should have (ie being one of 'em). And what's the easiest way to slipstream all that crap together or should i not bother?

Looking at the litePC homepage, they managed to stuff win98 down to less than 10 megs without compression:

it'd be neat if WinNT could get shrunk down too, but I'm not too worried about it

What would you want to remove from NT 4?

also, prepare to cry when none of your USB devices DON'T work

I hope you mean ALL of your USB devices DON'T work.

okay okay..

MOST. USB is not supported by the operating system, so unless you have drivers written for NT4... no dice.

Why do you want to mess with NT 4.0? Honestly, it wasn't that great. In fact, it was a major pain IRC.

It was a little more fragile with regards to driver problems causing BSODs, but it wasn't anywhere near a major pain.

NT4 is no longer supported by Microsoft. There will be no more updates, even critical security updates, for NT4.

As for whatever tool you used for W2K, your description scares me. You may find yourself with an operating system that's no longer supportable.
