even the RL makes more torque at a lower rpm with the same power (at a lower rpm).

unfortunately, honda has a bad way of developing some good cars and then letting it rot beyond it's age, same story for the s2000.

there was an article showing that the 3.2L 6MT TL made more power than the NSX everywhere below 6K rpms, with the TL using only a SOHC valvetrain. Don't even mention 07 3.5L TL-S.

Is that because they dont sell as well in U.S? because in japan they have a limit of 280-300 hp I think, thats why they don't go for more hp.

IMO that puts the chariot before the horse.

If honda had kept serious development along the way and kept the car competitive, it likely would have still found sales.

Cars like that never make huge sales. The net profit Honda gets from the NSX and the S2000 as a percentage of total (considering R&D) is tiny. Why would Honda waste tons of effort on a halo when they're selling hundreds of thousands of Civics, Accords, and SUVs?

And personally, I'm a fan of single generation cars. The MY2000 Honda S2000 I bought still looks modern because it's never been replaced.

Same goes for the 3000GT, Porsche 928s, and, with just a small jump in logic, the last-gen Toyota Supras and Mazda RX7s.

The NSX is a superb car IMO - it's a daily driveable "supercar" and was amazing for the time. I drove one almost a year and a half ago (summer of 05) and liked the simplicity in the car. We took the top off, got onto a nice long wide open road, and were off. Sure, it's not the most powerful, which is my biggest complaint, but I like how it handled like it was on rails.

Most NSX owners will either supercharge it or move up to a Ferrari once they aren't satisfied with the power anymore and so a person who really loves the car might end up just having a shop supercharge it. The NSX is timeless IMO.

The engine is in back of the car, so it's transverse for that reason. Same with the MR2, Lotus Espirit, etc. It only makes sense, just like you use a transverse drivetrain for FWD cars when the engine is up front.

not hot. its looked aged and out of date for years already. sure we know its fast, but for its price? meh. sure we would take it if were priced like a accord or something but as a super car? its bland, we have things like the ford gt these days. even a mustang is more exciting.

The handling was inferior to that of the Supra and RX-7. While many people liked the handling, it was mostly a feeling instead of actual numbers. Had the handling been honestly that good, it would have mopped the floor with them when they were tested on a track.
