A Spanish bullfighter is likely to suffer facial paralysis and lose the sight in one eye after a terrifying goring, the hospital treating him said Saturday.
Television images showed the moment when the bull's left horn ripped into Juan Jose Padilla's lower jaw to emerge beside his protruding eyeball as spectators in the northeastern city of Zaragoza screamed in horror.
Padilla is in a stable condition and recovering from a five-hour operation to repair his face, the statement from the Miguel Servet Hospital said.

Surprisingly, just last month, most of Spain has banned bullfighting. It was even banned on their largest TV network in January. Sucks for this guy, but I feel no pity.

I say good for the bulls for nearly winning one. This isn't a sport if you ask me, and I am far from being a tree hugger. If they want to make it fair they should attach knife blades to the tips of the bulls horns, let's give that bull a fighting chance. (It's going to get killed no matter what happens.)

I did google him and came across some great running of the bulls pictures, now that's the only thing they should do. Throw those bulls in the streets at random times throughout the year with unsuspecting people and film the resulting mayhem, now that would be a winning reality TV show!

I like the suggestion someone had in the other thread. Give the bullfighter 2 long knives, and let him go against the bull that way. The bull shouldn't be pre-weakened of course. I think that's a fair fight. The advantage of having sharpened blades is offset by the bull's mass, and speed.

I agree. If you've ever seen one of these the bull has lost so much blood from the swords you can see it panting. (It's in shock from blood loss.) It really is disgraceful IMHO.

I was thinking more of a direct analog i.e. fancily dressed "fighters" theatrically stabbing puppies and kittens to death.
