I doubt you care, but this is one of the things you have to get used to if you want to use OS X to it's full potential. It can seem like there's just too much clutter at first, but once you get the hang of positioning windows, hiding stuff you don't need in your front most view, rinse and repeat... it will seem much better than the Windows approach. Or at least it has for me.
I hate having full encompassing windows on my screen. It takes up too much real estate and I can't ever find anything when they're like that. It was an adjustment for sure, but it's been for the better, I feel.
But if you simply can't deal with it, RightZoom is the way to go.
