How bad does it stink?

Actually looks like they cleaned up since I last visited. For my nose it's never been too bad. I'll have a more accurate assessment after I visit the slums this weekend ^_^

was perfectly fine when I left the hotel and then torrential downpour halfway through my commute. About par for monsoon season - evidently it's been a below average year.

Culture shock:

Had lunch with the team today, in the cafeteria. NO NAPKINS, and reusable cups + pitcher of water at every table. In other words, NO SODA.

After you finish eating, you go to the separate wash area and wash hands. For my OCD ass, the lack of napkins was appalling.

no slumming it for me this time. Summer = offseason, too hot and too rainy to do slum tours.

Pro tip: Bring a spork and wetwipes with you.

D: Rule #1 of visiting India. You don't drink the water.

no need for napkins, just wash your hands with a glass of water in your plate when you're done eating.

Yeah there's no way I'm drinking something that I don't unseal myself. And my bags would be stuffed with wet wipes.

I take closed mouth showers and wash my teeth with bottled water.

Sometimes it is just tap water in those sealed bottles from what I've been told

The chances of it being tap water from a country not designated as third world is a lot better than that from the tap in India. Tap water from Stockholm is a lot cleaner than tap water from Mumbai.
