NRA invests millions in schools....for shooting sports

It's funny but I don't have a problem with shooting sports as an after school activity for high schoolers. Hands on instruction with firearms is not a bad thing per se.

OTOH, I have a huge problem with what the NRA has morphed into over the last 50 years. Huge. They push fear as a way to sell guns while they glamorize all the wrong kind of guns. Picking out the AR you want is like buying a fashion accessory as far as they're concerned. It's the same with high capacity hand cannons, too. More sales mean more industry donations to hold up 7 figure salaries, right? That means you sell the living shit out of whatever you can convince the public to buy.

That or the ammosexual nutbars have taken over the organization. I'm trending to believe that more all the time, particularly when they pump out conspiracy theories like this-

Stand and Fight for our Kids' Safety by Joining NRA," it said. "Today's protests aren't spontaneous. Gun-hating billionaires and Hollywood elites are manipulating and exploiting children as part of their plan to DESTROY the Second Amendment and strip us of our right to defend ourselves and our loved ones.

Yeh, somebody tell me that's not fucking nuts, OK?

I'd be ok with an after school program so long as its not paid for by tax payers.

If you google around you'll find that there was big "Hollywood" money behind the organization. And they used professional producers from Hollywood to organize and stage the event. It wasn't spontaneous and it wasn't by the school kids.

There are anti-gun people on cable TV news programs advocating for the repeal of 2A.

That link in no way supports the Hollywood billionaire conspiracy theory.

It's kinda cute the way the author pulls numbers out of his ass, however.

The amount of money from George Clooney and other celebs is in many articles. Find your favorite source.

Ummm, the author is a university professor and explains the methodology.

Which contributor was a shadowy hollywood billionaire?

Well, other than Oprah who's been very public about it.

We need all the Hollywod money we can get for these causes. They're up against Koch brothers levels of money.

Having money behind something doesn't invalidate the movement now does it.

And NRA don't "donate" to politicians?
What difference does it make if it was supported by some Hollywood people? Unless there's evidence the people on the march were paid to be there, it's the same thing as NRA supporting some cause they want to.

That's pretty much the rights argument. Big money for them and their causes and shame and conspiracy for using big money for everyone else's causes.
