I can't believe AOL actually made an infomercial. This is pretty damn sad. One of the person in this infomercial is admittedly stupid, in order to emphasize AOL's easy to use features. At least they'll admit it, I guess honesty is good.

I encounter countless morons on a daily basis who think that AOL=Internet, and that you can't get to the &quot;real&quot; Internet unless AOL is your ISP. Having to explain the truth over and over again is getting quite old. :|

I don't remember what the infomercial was about. I think it was some sort of AOL TV service or some bullsh1t.

Oh my God, now it's contagious! Remember, AOL = Internet Herpes. You can't do anything, it hurts if you try, and there is no way to get rid of it.
 
AOL's motto should be &quot;The internet is slow. We make it slower.&quot;.

As for its popularity: first time net users love it, eventually grow tired of the problems but don't move on because guess what? All their friends stick with AOL. Kinda like the psychological reasons people stay with their fav. online games even after they realize they've had enough of the game to last two lifetimes.
 
Hey, sustained dumbness of some users is profitable for the industry. I'm sure there are people who think the AOL shopping service is where the best deals are too. :Q

That email over the telephone might be handy for some...I wonder if they're forced to listen to audio ads before they can access their mail?
 
I don't see the big problem with aol...ive used it for about 2 or 3 years now without any problems whatsoever....unlike some other isps i've had. The only reason i've stopped using it was because of the free isps out there. I'm with you Yza...can't wait for that merger to go through and rake in the big bucks.
