congrats, and hopefully yours will be well trained and obedient. We've had two, and both were just a nightmare. Never listened to anything we said, barked incessantly whenever anything moved in our house, and shed everywhere. Plus we think the younger one was mildly retarded or something, b/c whenever he'd take a dump, he'd get distracted in the middle and just walk off, so it would get all over his fur and he'd leave messy streaks everywhere...
we ended up just giving both away, and I made my mom swear never to buy any dogs again.

I have had several friends with these dogs and they are pretty good and really good looking but they have a really bad trait and that is when they get about 9 or 10 years old they get a little testy and not very safe around little kids.

lol yeah it's pretty funny thinking back on it, but at the time it was disgusting. We ended up just shaving the entire region around his butt so it'd stop getting on his fur, but he never learned to stop long enough to finish his business...we let it grow back out before giving him away, and washed and dried him about fifteen minutes before his his owner showed up so he wouldn't have a chance to crap on himself. We did tell her about his problem though, so hopefully she found a solution...:p

we just bought a pomeranian.

If you are ready to be owned and totally dominated by a dog, that is a perfect choice. They, in my experience, are very, very hight maintenance. Hell, my wife is not so bossy! ;)
Good luck!

Our polms

The lighter one is about 12 years old, the darker one is her son - about 6 years old. We bought her off of a dog breeder who lived off of her puppies. We decided to let her have one more litter a few years after we got her, and we kept one of the puppies.

I'm not familiar with the breed. What about them makes them high maintenance?
Refer to shockwave's post :)

Congrats on the dog, I guess, if you wanted one like this! Something is wrong though when a dog is LIGHTER than a cat! :Q

What can I say. I HATE HATE HATE little annoying yap yap dogs. Just absolutely cant stand them. They never shut up, walk around with an attitude, are can be very mean. Just hate'm. There like small pickups, they serve no real purpose but to get in my way and annoy me.
Now, a lab or retreiever or something. Love those. Most mid sized and bigger dogs I like.
But, I'm not buyin the food so I wont tell him what to get.
