Now TSA agents are testing drinks purchased INSIDE the airport

they simple want to make people not travelling

No. Their goal is to get the American public used to ever escalating intrusions into personal liberties. They are planning for the inevitable social unrest once the Republicans siphon enough wealth out of the middle class.

Things will not get better until the Revolution.

oh perfect, my main airport. I really hope I don't get harassed with this crap or i'll probably end up in jail. Son of a bitch this shit pisses me off.

I find it pretty funny how americans laugh at brits for having CCTVs but at the same time can't go flying without getting buttfucked by a TSA agent.

personally I'm glad I don't have to deal with either.

It gets disturbingly unfunny when most people say they're cool with it. D:

This is the most shocking. People are increasingly ok with government intrusion into their personal lives. Its mind boggling. And down right sickening how people in this thread are blaming the rich and Republican party for it. Idiots.

Some people actually do get it. Kudos to you

So, uhh... which is it, are they pre-checked or not? Sign at my "local" airport says something to the effect of not being able to bring beverages through the checkpoint - but wouldn't you know that, conveniently enough, all beverages purchased past the checkpoint have already been screened.

They've always done that. There's a code on your ticket marking you for a random search.

Absolutely not. You will get randomly screened if you look odd/nervous, or if you set off the metal detector/body scanner.

They don't even check your ticket going through security after having your ID checked so a ticket # couldn't possibly be the basis of extra search. Beyond the security line TSA agents would have to stand at the gates waiting for you to board your flight to grab you based on ticket #, instead they do random searches throughout the terminal.

I fly at least a dozen times a year and never have seen TSA waiting at any gate for people boarding, it would cause a delay for the flight to take off and mess up all the schedules. However, I have very rarely seen them patrol for random searches.

Cash ticket payment
Late ticket purchase
Late ticket purchase by person with different name
No luggage

A combination of the above will setup flags before you go through security; potentially triggering an additional check.

What about liquid explosives that have already been consumed? They had better start pumping stomachs during screening. Maybe a stool sample just to be safe.

It's just turning into one of those things people are accepting because they there's nothing they can do about it.

I'm too lazy but can anybody link an article or something that shows the last time the TSA techniques they use actually stopped a major attack from happening?? I am being slightly sarcastic here, but actually legitimately curious at the same time.

lol. You think it's just Republicans? Oh how funny you are.

This is the issue. The TSA are the gatekeepers of you getting on your flight. If you are visiting and staying with family you are out the cost of your tickets (which isn't likely very cheap). If you are going on vacation you have the cost of your tickets, hotel, car rental, etc all wrapped up on getting on that flight. On top of that Americans typically have very limited vacation time so missing out on that trip has a pretty high opportunity cost. All of that adds up to the fact that very very few people are willing to risk angering the wrong TSA agent on the chance that it screws them out of this and possibly future trips.

It isn't that all people are mindless sheep it is that the risk vs reward for standing up to TSA intrusion for an individual is heavily skewed such that the risk is extremely high and the odds of any reward (aka limiting TSA authority) is very low. No elected official will ever curtail the TSA in any way. To do so would invite attack and guarantee the loss of re-election.

Between the airlines themselves (smaller seats; less leg room; charging for checking a bag, checking a carry on in some cases, for window seats, for aisle seats, for getting any kind of snack at all) to the TSA, and the airports inflated prices on everything flying sucks. But there is literally zero I can do to improve any of the negative aspects if I want to continue going to places that require taking a plane.

dude ive seen this at DIA, Ohare and Indy. they "randomly" take 3-4 passengers at the gate and do a pat down. granted i have not seen this in a couple of years but I have personally witnessed it.

If you take 3/2011 to 3/2012 I was flying about 3-4 times on average per month. I have at ATL this happened a few times to me personally. Also at a couple other airports that I can't even be sure which they were.

You really saw this three separate times? Perhaps this was something done earlier on, I've only been flying 75k+ miles/year for the past 4-5 years and in all my time in airports during layovers, connections, etc. I've never witnessed TSA agents patting down people past security.

*edit* to clarify I'm talking about selectively pulling people from gate during boarding and searching, not the random sweeps that TSA does in airports which I of course have seen.
