As far as pallets............one has to remember, or maybe some here don't know, that not each and every pallet is pure gravy. Many have rejects (read broken, non-working or just pure junk) of upwards to 50% of the pallet.

There we go. I don't know why everyone else here thinks pallets is the begin all and end all of solutions.

Thank you for speaking the truth my friend!

I stumbled into buying/selling pallets a few years ago by accident. Thought it was going to be easy money with high returns on investment. After all, they sound so good. After getting "disappointed" twice with electronic pallets (which is worse than gambling at Las Vegas), I toned down my buying to good that are hard to screw up. Rarely do I buy electronic items......most of these pallets are returns for one reason or another, so electronics get returned because they don't work. Rarely because it was the wrong item bought.

This turned out to be work.....but by careful purchasing, something that came through only with experience from several distributors and time buying, I now tend towards specific types and from specific retailers. Cut a lot of heartache out.

I buy once to twice a month and have supplemented my income by about another 30-40%. But its taken a few years to build a customer base, good sources, knowledge about how, where, and what to buy.

It's not for the faint-of-heart. You can and do get screwed by what look like a great pallet only to find out the icing was just icing on cow dung.

And for those that don't know.........the pallets are wrapped and you cannot open and explore each and every item. You buy by what you can see on the outside and what you hope you find on the inside. Sometimes it's sugar, a lot of times it's lemons.

Yep and it doesn't seem like to much of a advantage of being able to go there and get the pallets yourself because there still wrapped like you said and can't see whats under all the stuff on top or in the center around all the side products. Though at least you get to pick the pallet(s) you want!

Its a lot of work checking and cleaning each item too.

And that's the other thing........IT'S WORK!!!!

I bought 3 pallets on Monday. Spent almost all day Tuesday breaking them down, testing, cleaning, and storing the good stuff. Then there's disposal of a trailerload of junk that was worthless.

Now it's Thursday and I finally finished testing out the small stuff today..........and 4 out of 5 iitems are junk. Thank goodness some worked and worked well.

Between the three pallets I bought, I'll maybe net maybe $400-$500 or so on my $500 investment....almost a 50% profit, but then my time, gas to and from picking them out and up....not to mention the trailers (I have two for this gig) I had to buy to do this, and the profit margin drops.

But, it's fun sometimes, and the thrill of the hunt keeps me going. That good Sears pallet certainly made my day! But those are few and far between.
