Hey all,

So, there's a new motorcycle. If you've heard about it, move along. If not, here's what's special about it. Under the fairing, it's not your run-off-the-mill DOHC high-output 4-cylinder engine. Oh no. It's powered by a TURBINE HELICOPTER ENGINE. Yes. A jet engine. On a sportbike. WERE THESE THINGS NOT FAST ENOUGH? Geez! The engine produces 325 HP and 425 ft-lb. of torque!!! WTF!! And the bike is LIGHT. Can you say 250-MPH top speed? Wow. --And street legal? Yes indeed. Now, it's just cool as hell that you're driving a bike with a jet engine anyway, but can you imagine how it SOUNDS?! MAN, that would be weird. If you've seen Mission to Mars, and you remember the sound the car that Gary Sinese was driving made, that's probably pretty close. Justa real high-pitched metallic whiiiiiiiiirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....... Of course with the added ever-so-cool air intake/exhaust sound. MAN, that would be awesome. Oh....and there's no mirrors on it. Instead, it has a tail-mounted CAMERA with a small MONITOR in the instrument panel! Hehehe. Anyone got a quarter mil they would loan me? :)

Good God.

Wonder what it would look like to see somebody hit a brick wall at 250mph on one of these things!

I dunno, but I'd bet it would involve a squeegee and a ziplock baggie.

Namuna,

No passenger seat is correct. Also, notice the way the back of the seat is flat and angled straight up. Know why it's like that? If it were flat or even gradually turned-up, you would be GUARANTEED not to be able to stay on the bike when taking off. BTW, Jay Leno owns one of these bikes. Lucky big-chin BASTARD.

Hahaha... I guess with 420 ft-lbs of torque and a 54,000 (that's 54 THOUSAND) RPM redline, you ownly need ONE GEAR! Hehehe. No trasnmission for this badboy. Just "Neutral" and "OH SH!T!" :)

That's the compressor speed, not the engine output RPM. It outputs 6,000 RPM (read the page)

It's Q mile time isn't THAT fast, for the obscene horsepower to mass ratio.

Outer,

It's true, the Q-mile isn't that fast. It's FAST. FAST AS HELL. --But the reason it's not as fast as you would think it would be is because it has no low-end gears. Like I said, just one "all-purpose" gear. Imagine if it DID have some sort of transmission to get the maximum kick off the line. You would have to be a HELL of a shifter, though, with that kind of power/weight ratio. :)

You want to talk about fast and quick motorcycles? Although not street legal (and that's a good thing), the Nitro Harleys drag bikes are unreal. 6.4 seconds in the quarter at 219 mph!!!! Ths guy holds both the ET and top speed record on these bikes. Damn I'd love to take one down the strip at least once

BBC's Top Gear Magazine had a review of it. One of its editors came over to the US to test drive it. He was pulled over by a cop for doing over 180MPH. The only reason he got let off was because the cop didnt know what kind of bike he was riding coupled with a british licence and a brit with an accent.

Let me see if I can make a PDF of that article. I have it somewhere in the past issues.

Maybe someone can correct me, but this thing would be great for one thing: going really fast for an extended amount of time. Straight gas turbine systems can't change operating rpms as easily as your standard automobile engine.

Look for a few more accidents on the autobahn with this baby on the road.
