Totally agree that CDM and AS SSD are more useful measures. ATTO is good for one thing... it produces fairly consistent results AND really lets you test interface bandwidth limitations. I've been running quite a few cards with 8x Sandforce SSDs and you can clearly see things like PCIe x4 1.0a capping transfers (as one example).

its a 64gb probably 8x8gb flash with 13% reserve space. they also make units with 28% reserve space which would be a 50gb. (probably 40gb usuable).

I belive so with the 3 yr warranty and the numbers that its showing in the benchys! If you want to pay about $30 more you can get a name brand with real support.

OMG! The web page shows 3 yr warranty but the box say 2 yr! That's soooo wrong! That was a cost factor for me in returning the Onyx which I had purchased the extended warranty so I could have 3 yrs on it. Now I have to yell at somebody at Microcenter and get them to give me the extended warranty for free!

I was wondering where that extra 4GB was coming from-thought maybe they had a new firmware that had even less reserved space but I guess it's just a rather misleading method of giving the size.
At any rate, I'm waiting to raid a few of the G Skill version of this drive...can't wait to see what it looks like with 4 of them in RAID 0. Hopefully the RAID controller plays nice with the Sandforce chipset. I bought basically the same RAID controller but I've seen complaints about poor performance with some SSD drives-I'm guessing that's part of the reason why they went with WD SiliconBlue drives since WD drives probably play nicer in RAID than most.

Sorry all, for 'resurrecting' this thread 2 weeks later...looking to buy my first SSD for a new i7 build, like in the next day or two. Was going to go with the X25-M 120GB (newer model that has up to 100mb/s sequential write time). It's currently $194 after MIB from newegg.

However I'm already making a trip to microcenter tomorrow + thinking I can live with a 55GB OS drive for at least a few months. Mostly I'm wondering if 3-6 months from now there will be more compelling SSDs that take advantage of sata III (which of course my new mobo has).

I was honing in on the X25-M because of the faster random reads, but $99 for the microcenter drive is attractive to my wallet right now, especially if there are more compelling SSD options coming in 2011 and I can upgrade then.

Does this sound like a good plan to anyone? Or should I just stick with the X25-M for a snappy OS experience? I hate mail-in-rebates but the newegg deal is pretty decent.

Does anyone know if this drive hates Nvidia chipsets? I'm getting this with mine and my Intel X25-V is beating its performance with that not even running AHCI.
