In other news, Anandtech users have been spotted taking their PCs to Alaska in an attempt to set new records for air cooled CPUs.

Unfortunately no monitors work at that temp... I've tried. :)

Something seems amiss to me... those Fahrenheit/celcius temps aren't converted right. -69F is -20.6C... not 56C

-40F = -40C
32F = 0C

Now knowing this, does your calculation seem a little...off?

Talk about shrinkage. Mine would probably go all the way down to 8 inches.

Just stick your computer in a snow bank and run the cables through a hole in the wall.

Is that with or without the wind factored in?

My city (Winnipeg, MB, Canada) has hit -70F a few times with the windchill.

It really sucks trying to walk to the bus in that kind of temperature!

According to Environment Canada, Winnipeg is the coldest city in the world with a population of over 600,000.

Edit: I just realized that the post includes wind at 0.0 MPH :)

At that temp if you took a bucket of water and tossed the contents in the air would it be frozen before it hit the ground?

I've been exposed to around -20 temps and that makes your nostrils freeze shut almost instantly. I can't imagine another 40 degrees colder than that.
