That is a sweet configuration. It should do nicely as a budget video editing rig. He can always set up some sort of RAID/SCSI setup later when he gets another allowance from the wife.

That's a pretty decent system for video editing... you really don't need SCSI nowadays unless you're capturing uncompressed video, IDE drives are fast enough to handle the load. RAM is important though... It's pretty close to the one I just built my Dad for Christmas:

Correct if I'm wrong, but I remember a post some time ago about some videoediting or picture editing software that didn't work so well with rc-5. The client caused a significant drop in performance Check that out before persuaing him to keep the cow, you don't want him being unhappy about the performance with that kind of a system
