NOW they charge for carry on bags?

I agree with charging by weight. If people complained about privacy, ethics, etc. they might want to remember all the shit they have to go through just to get to the terminal. Any rational moderately intelligent person realizes it takes more fuel to carry more weight. The base fare should be determined by the distance, aircraft, and likelihood of flight filling up (remembering there is lots of weight in airlines moving US mail around). Then a "weight charge" for passengers plus cargo that could be x amount per pound. Configure your favorite fare search engine to put travel weight in, and voila.

That would be too simple though.

Airlines have become like the telephone companies in the number of fees they charge. They will soon have coin operated toilets. Actually, more like credit card required to charge you for 30-second intervals.

Sigh this is outrageous. All because government has a monopoly on flying. If you want to set up your own little airline with the runway at some farmer's backyard, you need to register with the government. I say lets deregulate our airways. Make it fair game for anyone to fly, not just regulate the airspace. Then airlines like spirit and TSA agents won't be able to gouge us to death while stealing our laptops.

Sounds like it's cheaper to mail your luggage to your destination and then mail it back. No checked luggage, no carry on to worry about and you can track it if you ship it ground.

what's next... charge each person according to how many pounds they are over weight? fucking ridiculous. this is why i prefer to drive.

they claim the fares are lower but they make up for it by charging all these ridiculous fees. the fares end up right back where they were before.

kinda like stores and SUPER SALES. they mark everything up byt 25%-50%. then claim the sale is 25%-50% OFF. notice the prices BEFORE the sale and you will see. you're NOT saving a thing.

Sure you are.

Base price: $100
50% markup: $150
50% sale: $75
you save: $25 (25% of base price)

Yea some sites have pointed out that in some cases that is cheaper. Depending on weight, how far, etc...
Many hotels will hold packages if you plan ahead.

Quoted for stupidity.

Just wrote up my business plan and proposed it to the airline to see if they will accept my offer or not. Plan is to have the airlines disable their air cabin and do not circulate any air. Thus, "Mandate" travelers "MUST" buy only the provided airline oxygen tank and mask in order to breathe during the flight since no air is being circulated.

Over charge on the oxygen tank and mask = Profit $$$$$ for airline and my company.

What do you guys think? Will the airline bite my proposal to sell air for travelers?
