There are quite a number of different lager styles as well. They don't all taste the same.

Some nice varieties there. Can't get any of that around here... well, Duvel and Chimay are both sold at the LCBO (I'm in Ontario).

I find ale easier to stomach and the after effects are much more preferable. Take a swig of most lager and all you can taste is the alcohol if you don't down it immediately... makes you want to vomit! I'd almost certainly be sick if I had to drink Corona, Blue, Canadian, Coors or Sleeman :(

I've learned a neat trick when drinking some ales (use your discretion, it depends on the flavour). Take some dark chocolate after your first drink. Let it melt on your tongue (a small piece, quarter sized) and then inhale the ale after you swallow the chocolate. The ale brings it out from your tongue and you can smell the chocolate in your nose for several minutes heh. Some people do that with Scotch too! ;) Just don't toss the ale in with the chocolate...yuck
