Phone uptime? really? My iPhone 1G was up 5 straight months, the only reason it rebooted was because apps I installed needed it to. Outside of my WM6.1 phone I can't think of any smart phone I've ever owned that needed to ever be rebooted unless I made a modification to the OS.
To be frank, you're talking shit. There is nothing 'bad' about a cell phone being restarted. Period. In fact my Froyo powered device has restarted around 60 times in the last week alone.
Also, lets have some validation in that pic, that it's yours. A bit of paper next to that value with the number "454-289" written in that way will do.
Well-heeled consumers don't see it as the latest and greatest must-have chic gadget, and there aren't any critical features to force business users to upgrade. If that's not a recipe for disappointing sales I don't know what is.
I think this has hit the spot.
Who buys phones? Regular consumers and businesses. Consumers want the hottest newest shit, Torch doesn't offer much except being the newest, best? BB. Business users don't see a pressing need to upgrade. I really don't see many blackberry users.
RIM.
bb is about a year behind iphone and android in terms of hardware (cpu and screen size). now that they have bb6 and webkit browser theyre reasonably competitive in terms of software function. by october when storm3 comes out they will have upgraded their hardware and that and their lower price will keep them in the game, even though i will be tossing my tour for a verizon iphone in january
Hey, the Samsung Captivate and Vibrant are down to a Penny each. Is Android dead*?
*Of course not, but as this thread shows, it makes for some fun reading.
I think the difference is that BB actually thought they had a winner on their hands, makes me wonder just how clued in BB is to the consumer's likes and dislikes.
Samsung made a major play with it's cross carrier releases. I think in a year or two we'll see a vastly different picture for BB, as current users come off contract with their BB phones.
I'm having trouble keeping up with your points as they keep jumping about.
Nobody, not even I, is going to defend the stagnant hardware choice used in the Torch, but by all accounts it's selling very well. You posited that the Torch is fucked because it's available @$99. However, the flagship Android from Samsung is now available for 1c. So is the "rumor is they can't give them away..", to quote you directly, for Samsung too? 😀
Let the sales numbers do the talking in the next round of NPD numbers, that's what I'm saying.

The thing is, people have been saying that for years now. The first polls that were "shocking revelations" about the upcoming death of Blackberry, citing statistics that over half of BB users wanted an iPhone, were quite some time now. Yet here we are...Blackberry might have relinquished the #1 market share spot, but all in all they're still selling pretty damn well.
