Now that we've seen R520s disappointing performance, who will buy what?

I really enjoyed my 6600, it was a swell card. Same as for the new one I got (the x850xt) which is great also, I can add all the eye candy without loosing peformance. I'm really impress with the two companies who made them, I hope they do well in the late future

Your topic title is misleading, and bias. There is no way to know if these numbers are real.

I can make a graph and make some disappointing numbers too.

Would you have said the same thing if HA put up numbers that destroyed the GTX and I made a poll called, "Now that we've seen R520 destroy G70, who will buy what?". My gut feeling says a resounding nein!

Ackmed would be setting up a trust fund to pay for posting that article on multiple websites for the next five years if the benches had shown the R520 on top.

If I were ready to upgrade and had the money, I would be on a 7800GTX like frat boys on a cheerleader. However, I have a greater concern about what Windows Vista will do to hardware.

With all the DRM crap in Windoze Vista, it'd have to be a pretty big improvement in features over WinXp in order to make me switch.

I'm not too worried about DRM, I've always got a spare PC to run Linux on. I'm just tired of Windows XP machines and I'm looking for something new.

Still want to see what all the other review sites have to say after the official release, but of course if the benchies are true, it's Nvidia for sure.

I'm not that disappointed in the performance. What I'm really disappointed in is the price. Generally, ATI is cheaper than nVIDIA. We'll see when the NDA is lifted.

Also, I think there's going to be hell to pay for this article being published. I saved it in case it gets taken down fro some reason.

I'd guess they will figure out where it came from, and someone will get fired. I hear it's really hard to get a job after being fired for violating nda's. (In the high tech industry).

The real question is would you have put up the same thing if numbers were reversed. 😉
But I can't vote because you missed option 7.

IQ and features versus speed.

I'll wait until the R580 to make any final decision.

Hey who's the former ATI engineer that said the quote in your sig?

Guy Kawasaki. You might have heard of him.

I've heard of Guy....he's the guy from Apple Computers, the Mac evangelist IIRC. I don't recall him working at ATI or being an Engineer...so you're attributing that quote to Guy? hmmm
