Now that we've seen R520s disappointing performance, who will buy what?

I haven't seen any disappointing numbers. I have seen second hand numbers on a site that admits to being angry at ati, admits that they don't have a card to test, say they got the numbers from an ati partner that broke their nda's to provide them, and admit that they don't know if they are accurate. If those are the benchies you're talking about, why not just make up your own?

I think option #4 should be your pick.

Personally, we haven't seen the best out of either chipset yet... remember... wait 6 months until you buy something.

Yeah and I can't remember if it was the R520 or the Crossfire, or both. But one of them were tested on an SLI board...The A8N-SLI.

So right off the bat, The Nvidia chipset and the cards might not work well. The X-press 200P is probably optimized.

I own both iNvida and ATI, and I don't plan on buying any new cards in the near future. I just think it's silly to accept hear-say as fact.

I've gotta agree. I'm not going to necessarily accept these numbers as gospel until they're verified by more independent reviewers (like AT). This thread doesn't seem to be a whole lot more than trolling...

But at the same time - if the numbers are right, it looks like Nvidia has the lead, which isn't surprising given all the troubles that ATI's had getting the R520 into production. The numbers, by themselves, don't look too bad - but when you compare it with the cheaper GTX, it doesn't look good for ATI.

In any case, I'm going to hold onto my 6800GT for a while anyway. I couldn't upgrade to any of these new cards right now if I wanted to anyway; I need to upgrade to an A64 system first. ;)

No this thread isn't trolling, it's to see what people choose. I don't see how you can take a single option in the poll and denounce the entire thread as trolling - not to mention I haven't made any inflammatory posts here to warrant the label. And to those of you saying the thread title having the word "disappointing" in it makes it a troll post, well that is all relative isn't it? To me the numbers are disappointing and since I'm the OP, I included it as part of the title; feel free to disagree.

I was just making an observation. I will grant that you are less inflammatory than a lot of the regular posters around here. ;)

I'm gonna skip, and wait until longhorn, excuse me, vista ready graphic cards are released. I can't believe they named it vista. They should have just stuck with the codename of longhorn, at least that had some decency to it. vista sounds weird. especially for an operating system. and the top-of-the-line one, vista ultimate? you've got to be kidding me. Ultimate and vista just don't belong together, because vista isn't an ultimate name. and they are just limiting the basic edition to 1024x768 resolution??? Even the name ME was better than Vista (the name, not the OS). windows vista just sounds weird. sorry for the rant.

Your topic title is misleading, and bias. There is no way to know if these numbers are real.

I can make a graph and make some disappointing numbers too.
