Now that repubs own the house, I'm looking forward to the next two years of legislative stagnation and political infighting. Oh wait...

Everyone have a great day, I gotta go to work.

Hopefully, both parties can do what it takes to get this struggling economy going again, my non-union manufacturing job depends on it.

That certainly would fall under making Obama a one-term President. Do it!

I was wondering when the dems were going to get around to being concerned about the economy, it only took almost six years of democratic control of the congress with two of those years with a democratic president leading a super majority in congress.

It's just too bad that the economy had to "sit in the back seat" to handing GM to the unions and screwing up health care and lets dont forget tripling the US debt, better nate than lever I guess.

I would say what the economy needs most now is to fix what obama inflicted on it.

Is this what happens when people are proud of their ignorance? Six years? It hasn't yet even been four (they were elected 4 years ago but terms don't start immediately). Also, saying Obama inflicted problems on the economy when we've seen improvements since when he took over office is just a lie, and a bad one at that. You're one of the guys who rather than getting actual information listens to people like Sean Hannity, huh?

(dim bulb rant)
Please cease your efforts to further embarrass our state. It's bad enough that everyone associates us with Senator DeMented and Governor Appalachian Trail; try not to taint all South Carolinians as brain damaged Tea Party Birthers.

we'll finally see obama's long form birth certificate and put that conspiracy to rest..

If it turns out to be a "Delayed Certificate of Birth", I predict hilarity will ensue.

OP, this is as bad as the giant douche here saying that Obama was going to "bring Bush and his criminal cabal" to justice. We laughed when he said it, we're still laughing, and now, we're also laughing at you. :awe:

Fixed. Because he is.

I can't really remember more than a couple congressmen seriously questioning the 9/11 story and maybe not even that. The 9/11 "truthers" were so nutty that they couldn't even be congressmen. However, with these "birthers," there are still Republican/Tea Party leaders who question Obama's birth. There were a few congressmen who wanted to impeach Bush in 2006, but Pelosi quickly silenced them. It would have been stupid to attempt it, like it would be stupid to bring up Obama's birth certificate now.

However, if the GOP wants to use their energy to force Obama to show whatever proof they want, then fine by me. It's not like they are going to get anything passed anyway.

All they have to do is finally pass a law requiring that a candidate's qualifications must be confirmed.

Presently we don't have that. A Repub House member (from CA, IIRC)prosposed such a bill but of course Pelosi killed it.

If the Repub controlled House passed such a bill the Senate, I think, would have a hard time killing it. And Obama would have a helluva hard time vetoing it.

I.e., it would force Obama to show his long form BC in order to run again in 2012.

:sneaky:

Such an attempt strikes me as possible, if only because of the political benefits for Repubs. There is no downside for them.

I think there is a huge downside if they really wanted to do that. It will be seen as vindictive and out of touch with America. Plus, if the Democrats were accused of wasting time in Congress, wait until this comes up. If there had been a legitimate effort to impeach Bush in 2006, it would have been viewed the same way and this election would have been bumped up two years. The vast majority think Obama was born in the US and the vast majority of people did not want Bush impeached.

I do welcome any Tea Partiers to try to push this. I think it would be quite funny to watch actually.

Vindicitve?

Any Congressional hearing soley on Obama's BC might be "vindictive" (I personally wouldn't use that term).

But a requirement for all national office seekers to have qualifications confirmed by the FEC? How is that vindictive to Obama?

It strikes me as stunningly stupid that it doesn't already exist. FFS, it's harder to get a drivers license or credit card than be a candidate for national office.

It would prevent any future 'birther' stuff. We already have office holders who are not natural born citizens. We have a huge illegal immigration problem. This issue will pop up again. I don't know
when or where, but I do believe it will pop up again.

Like I said, maybe we will FINALLY see it..

I'm pretty sure they have better things to do...the question is will they do it?

Honestly, if they waste any time on bullshit like what you created this thread for I vote for lynching them.
