Now that the DFI NF4 boards are out...

Are there any other NF4 releases that anyone is waiting for? It's getting to be time for me to upgrade my mobo, video, and CPU, but I'd like to wait til the dust settles a bit (and the prices too!) RIght now I'm looking at:

DFI Ultra-D
A64 Winchester 3200+
Leadtek 6600GT

As I am primarily a gamer, I am considering the SL1 version of the DFI board, but is it worth it? Maybe go with 6800 instead? Get a 2nd video later when prices drop...

The 6600GT is a good PCIe solution right now. All the Nvidia 6800 PCIe cards seem to be way overpriced due to the SLI craze and pathetic supply.

True, but thats only if your that desperate to use SLI. From what I know, two 6600GTs running in SLI cannot even compare to a single 6800GT in most applications, whether it be running simple tasks or playing games. If you want more info, google it or use any search engine you wish.

On the contrary, I just read an article comparing two 6600GTs in SLI to one 6800 GT and the two 6600's showed about a 12% advantage in benchmarks over the 6800. Not much, but still better and cheaper.

If you're lucky you can get a board that can be modded to support SLI, the first revisions of the DFI boards can, but they got patched out real fast.

I personally got the non-SLI board and I hope i can mod it. When prices drop and a 6600 GT PCIe costs 120.00, why not get a 2nd card?

Interesting article, and you are absolutely correct. I don't plan on buying two 6600GT's, I will get two PCI-e 6800 Ultra's and run them in SLI. As time goes on I think it will prove to be compatible in more and more games.
