After some passed time, paper lauches, ATI & HL, NV cheating, whatever talk, whats you pick for your next card...

Has anything changed your mind this time around from a NV to ATI or ATI to NV buyer? If so what?

If the $340 pre-order deal at Computers4Sure comes through soon, it will be the X800 Pro. If they drag their feet for a few weeks, it will change to the 6800 GT. For $400, it seems the GT is the best card but I couldn't resist the Pro for $340 when it should also arrive sooner. For $500, it's a toss-up between the Ultra and the XT, but personally I'd have to lean toward the XT based on the single-slot solution and lower power requirements. Hey, at this point it's ALL good if you can afford it. ;)

The performance of the X800XT is too good to pass up. It's a lot of money, but I'm somehow reminded of those initial buyers of 9700 pro's. Even the best of the best can be considered a worthwhile investment, and I think the X800XT is one of these.

I have a 9800 atm. Not sure what or when I'll upgrade, but it will be most likely ATi, especially if I upgrade while the current cards are around (6800/X800 cards)

6800GT could be a good price/performance pick, but with HL2 / D3 inching closer, it makes more sense to wait and see.

i think ill be cashing in on the hopeful price drop of the 9800 cards........dont have money to burn on things like x800's jus yet!!! and my monitor wount reliably do over 1024x768 either!!! ill be lookin to get a 17 TFT and even then will only need 1280x1024 res and a 9800 can do that jus fine for the games i like playin....which are UT series, CS, HL, command and conquer series.....sorry far cry jus doesnt pull any strings for me...pretty yes....good game no

I am planning a new build in the comming weeks... I was leaning towards the x800 xt but, voted for the Nvidia 6800 Ultra. The reason is that I think the Nvidia Nforce3 250 motherboards look great (looking forward to final solutions from Via & Ati).... The Nforce boards are supposed to run the 6800 cards faster?

The jury is still out on this one :)

Least we forget not that XGI has 16 pipes card too... that sucks in performance.

I still haven't installed (no time) my X800 ATI yet. If it runs some-what fast, has little to no drivers issues (we are starting to see some issues posted already), ATI will win me over to their side this time around.

X800 is a small low power card compared to the sample 6800's we have seen so far at our company. The X800's we have built in systems run quiet, give little to no install issues, seems as if they have picked up on 2D speed some more compared to the 9800 series. Just what we are seeing as our opinion...

Has anyone here played some of the older games on their X800 yet like (these are games that caused me some issues with my 9800XT): Total War (toss you out of game after a bit or not even start), MS Rise of Nations (limitede to 1024x768 using DVI & LCD) etc... curious if these issues have been resolved yet in software/hardware.

We will see cheaper prices on all cards once the older cards are sold out, the wholesale cost IS at a price that could be sold much less than the price many are paying right now.

The encoding capabilities of the 6800 series are very attractive so that's probably the way I'll go, especially since I'll eventually be upgrading to an Athlon-64 and most likely an nForce3 250Gb... as I said in the previous 37 threads on this subject...

Anyone heard anything new from XGI yet?

I was a Nvidia FX5950 fan myself, love my new ATI X800, quiet, low power fast with great graphics so far!

Matrox was to release a new part soon as well, anyone have any news there?

Have you seen a review of the Programmable Video Processor?

Most likely 6800 GT. A better deal than X800 Pro, overclocks well and isn't too far behind 6800 Ultra and X800 XT.

its a hard mod, isn't it??

Sure is a hard mod. Well, it is actually a hard mod followed by a soft mod. First, scrape, paint, and pray - then flash and pray. It isn't 100% either, many people's mods failed with unknown consequences. I'd rather buy an XT PE than risk ruining a Pro whilst ruining the warrenty.

Has anyone seen a 6800GT with only one power plug needed and a quiet GPU fan? Anyone have one here? If so, your thoughts on the card?
