Now that some DDR mobos are discontinued, what should I get?

I really want to wait for an nforce, but I just can't handle waiting the entire summer and having to put up with my ancient setup right now. A while back I heard that Asus discontinued their A7M266 and some other DDR boards were discontinued. I am going to be building a setup with a 1.4 T-bird, 512 megs of PC2100, Asus v8200 deluxe GF3, and the whole works... But what motherboard should I buy? I don't need RAID at all, and I am not interested in VIA's chipsets. Any suggestions for a current DDR mobo that is still being produced/supported which has the best compatibility and performance?

Another question: Will I notice a difference between PC2400 and PC2100 DDR ram?

He said he wasn't interested in VIA chipsets. The EP-8K7A has a VIA southbridge. Like almost all AMD 761 boards out there being produced. So if you want something totally non-VIA, you'll have to go with ALI or SiS chipsets. Off-hand I don't know the boards which have these chipsets, because I'm not interested in them. ALI has been performing poorly, and the new SiS chipset isn't available yet but looks like it will be good.

Just got word from my Chicago Distributor Thursday that the ASUS A7M266 isn't totally dead yet. Apparently they will be shipping small quantities again. Price is about $200 though. A little high compared to a K7 MASTER that is just as good. If you like SCSI the K7 MASTER-S will be shipping as well. So I guess the AMD761 shortage might be ending?? But I do not know if I would hold my breathe too long.

Has anyone overclocked the 1.4Ghz CPU yet?? How high does it go?

Asus A7A266 has the ALi Magic chipset, you can go for that if you want.

As far as I know (?) there is no DDR mobo without a VIA Southbridge. Even the so-called AMD 760 based boards, have all a VIA Southbridge (together with the 761 AMD Northbridge).
