Now that Sept. 11 is a national holiday, does that mean we get the day off?

Is this a national holiday (i.e. Government/Bank/Everyone doesn't work except EMS/Fire/Police) or just a day of observance? From this proclamation, it looks like a day of observance, rather than holiday. If the former, then why don't they make Dec. 7th a holiday as well?

Edit to ^^^^. I think that the people who deserve a day off the most, i.e. Fire/Police/EMS, wouldn't be able to get it. Can't exactly shut down 911 and let the city of New York operate without emergenc services.

Yes, this is incredibly stupid. I can guarantee that tons of local car dealerships and electronics stores will now be having a "Patriot Day Blowout Sale!" next year, and the lives of the victims lost on that day two years ago will be the LAST thing on the salesman's minds.

It's sad how people are already using a terrorist attack as an excuse to make a quick buck. This holiday isn't going to help.

from what the link says it seems a day of observance rather than a holiday(correct me if I am wrong), so I don't think it will be a day of of work...I think this thread title should be changed too.

It's a day of observance, like Flag Day.
