Now Stepping Up to the Plate . . .

Yeah, Texas Governor Rick Perry.

Can anyone name a Polititian who actually has made the non-partisan sactrifices and decisions that he has in the aftermath of the crisis ?

I disagree with him on many of his policies, but he's been a better Governor of Texas than his predacessor,
and is making some tough choices and decisions here.
He has involved his staff and the State agencies to provide more aid and immediate assistance than most other places combined.
Directing shelter lodging assistance, making communications availabe to the displaced, and worked with local Mayors to spread the response.
The kids are being checked for their physical well being, and being placed into an educations system as best Texas can,
which places a burden on an already spread too thin State Government services.

Tough. He gets it - and he helped where few others have, he's swinging for the fences, and looks to have put one over the fence.

I just know that he'll take the heat for this . . but who else can match his effort and the generosity of those in Texas ?

The GOP better regroup fast and ride this pony into the future, if they want to have one.

At least he is trying to help!! If they are streched thin I think someone should step up and help them out with this.

You know, people keep looking at this thing as a really bad deal, but how about that education deal. I'm sure the schools in parts of NO were just dog $h!t. Maybe now many of them will have a shot at a better education system.

Sometimes it has to hurt before things can get better.

I'm not sure how much heat he'll take, but  for a GOP governor from Texas.

So how to avoid such terrible results from a natural disaster in the future? Simple, when you pull that lever, make it says Republican. Let the Democrats go to Hollywood and run a fantasy world. Perhaps they have more influence on writers than they do on mother nature.
