Just be happy and buy all three, you cheapskates.

Quit bitching and moaning about how one console is better than the other.

That said, as far as the comment on MS's "crappy" first-party titles, tell me a good first party Sony title other than GT3 and Ico (which is arguable...depends on what you like...I personally didn't care for it.)

I love the PC first and foremost, but the game console that my friends and I play the most is the Xbox. I recently sold off my GC for a $20 loss so I could upgrade my video card, but I plan on purchasing another down the road when Metroid comes out and by then the GC will be $150. That's the only title I'm really hyped for on the GC. I'm tired of Nintendo's rehashes of the same game (Mario Tennis, Mario Kart, Mario Golf, Mario Sunshine, Mario Party, Smash Bros, etc). I'm perfectly happy playing these titles on my SNES, GBA, and N64. What more can you add to Mario Tennis to make it any better? Nintendo needs to start innovating more (eg. Pikmin which was great!).

<< Pikmin is the only game to show any REAL creativity recently. Guess who made it. >>

I don't know about only. Nintendo innovates. Sega innovates (are you saying Super Monkey Ball is a rehash? JSR? Shemue? Nintendo is far from being the only one). Namco innovates. Even Capcom decides to try something different once every 2 years or so. About the only companies that don't change their patterns are Square (Final Fantasy 12. Need I say more?) and EA (Madden 2003... um yeah)

First off, I don't think a game company would announce a price drop but not have it in effect for six months. Everyone would hold off buying a game system until November and it would hurt sales until then. Maybe this will happen but I don't see why they would do that.

Second, I own a PS2 and I'll admit I'm biased against the XBox (I try to aviod MS products), but right now the PS2 is the system to own. They have the best games (except for Halo) out right now and have a lot more coming out this year. However, I think the GC and XBox have better games than the PS2 did a year ago and come this fall, they will have a lineup that can compete with Sony. Until they have games that make you want to own a system, why buy it? Even if it is only $199 it still isn't worth it. The XBox and GC have better graphics than the PS2 but N64 had better graphics than PS and it sold better than N64.

I think all of game companies will be out of business soon. They have all made a major mistake in not consulting with this group first.

That is funny funny stuff man.......ROTFLMAO

Why don't all you guys get together and create an Anandtech Dream Machine. Call it ADM.
It'll make millions.

I have only this to say.. After having a couple games on my PC that were at one time Console games I have absolutely NO reason to buy any Console. Frankly all games should be designed for PC's first and then for consoles. If anyone here has played either of the spiderman games on PC you will agree. Computer users EXPECT their games to be top notch and companies like Lithtech, Epic and IDsoftware make their millions without catering to console makers "i'm saying their graphics engines not just their games as lithtech is licensing only" Does anyone here ever really think Unreal 2 or No one lives forever 2 or DOOM 3 would work nearly as good if they were on psx2 or xbox first? ICK.. i shudder at the thought 😀

I hear the first and foremost response to this argument as this.. IT's EASIER to build a console game because it's a single platform..
my response is this.. SO? I'd trade 10 bad games for every single good game I have. and I'd trade all the time spent on those bad games in the making of ONE good game as well. It's easier to port a game from PC To anything else than the reverse. The market is FLOODED according to this thread with all the bad games. Regardless of console type.

We did consult with Coleco a long time ago. Instead of the ADM, we added another A because that's what most teenagers in the 15-25 age group wanted. We came up with the ADAM

Well.....we all know what happened to Coleco after that 🙁

Yeah but some games are just better on the consoles, I can't imagine playing Tony Hawk or Spiderman on the console, I have both games for PSX and PC. Even though the graphics are a million times better on the PC even with a big 21" CRT the game is still small it's fun to play on a 32" tv, more importantly though is the controller, and I've tried a lot from $ to $$$$$$ and none feel right on the PC. Nonetheless as soon as the prices start dropping I'm goin to probably pick up the XBox I hate MS with an absolute putrid disgust but, I like their console. Plus I'd like to buy the PS2 later on when it's $100, I've seen what they have and I really only want GT3, GTA3 and MGS2. I know their's other good games but the only reason I bought a PSX and Dreamcast is because CDR's became affordable...you do the math 😀 Hopefully DVD-R's will figure out a standard and they will also drop in price.

I said recently. SMB is the only recent game you listed. While an awesome game, it kinda is a rehash. Remember Marble Madness?

The PS2 staying at $299 is bad news, if that ign story is true and not Sony double-speak. 🙁

Microsoft dropping the xbox down to $199 is great news for the consumer. The games are coming, and it is just a matter of time before it takes off. Have you guys seen the pics of the new Panzer Dragoon? 😀

The Xbox price drop will likely force a price drop for the Gamecube to $149. With imminent releases of blockbuster titles like Mario Sunshine, Zelda, and Metroid for the GC, summer should be really great.

I remember that thing- I sooo wanted one when it came out, but wound up dating the vic 20 and commodore 64 instead. They seemed complicated at the time.. silly me.

"I think all of game companies will be out of business soon. They have all made a major mistake in not consulting with this group first."

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! 😀

Idiot.

Will the price drop actually occur on the 20th? I'm thinking of getting the Xbox at Best Buy this weekend and then doing a price match whenever the prices do drop. This should work, shouldn't it (assuming the price drop occurs within 30 days of when I purchase it)?

Too bad PC cards are updated every 6 freaking months. I like consoles because they have a longer life span.

[Deceiver]

Get it at CCity. best buy is a pain in the ass customer service wise.

If you are going to compare SMB to Marble Madness then you should compare Pikmin to Lack or Love. LOL is even a more recent game than Marble Madness.

Microsoft is not losing $$$ on the X-BOX. Actually maybe on the hardware itself, yes. But look at the games... $49, $59, $69 for a game. They are making up their lose on the games.

Found this. Looks like there may actually be some hope here.

Further Proof

Taken from article:

With the Electronic Entertainment Expo two weeks out, Microsoft let the proverbial cat out of the bag earlier this week, indicating to retailers and analysts that the company will soon slash the U.S. price of the Xbox console to $199.

Also, bump for BBuy CS being suck!

Too bad PC cards are updated every 6 freaking months. I like consoles because they have a longer life span.

And that means what? I have had my Radeon 32MB DDR card for almost two years and there is not a game out that I can not play. Now how many consoles does the average gamer have in that time span? I have a PSX, N64, PS2 and will be buying a GC soon. The PSX I have had for some time but the other three will be purchased in the lifetime of my Radeon. Difference about 6-7 times more money for the consoles. I am not saying only go PC but many games are just better on PC and the same for consoles. Just because a new video card comes out it does not mean you have to upgrade. Even my Voodoo 3000 plays most games pretty well.

Sorry I should have clarified. I meant that if you compare the current technology with the current consoles they are about equal. People speak how omg pcs are so much faster because they are running Gforce4392392 mhz chip which comes out 3 years after a console. In otherwords, who cares.

Anyway further proof?
