They have a new coupon for $10 off ANY purchase which you can get...
Buy something for like $10 which is FREE after rebate. (i.e. the Body Massager item #185025 which is $11.99 with a $11.99 rebate).
At checkout chop off $10 with the coupon. Then send in for your rebate. If they send you the rebate, Yippeee you made $10. In the worst case scenario, if they don't send you the rebate, you at least got this product for FREE anyway. :)
Update: The coupon works now only for $10 off $25 orders. But you can still make some $$$ on this after a 100% rebate.

They will send you a rebate for the cost before the coupon. So in JumponDeals example, you would get the $11.99 rebate, even if you only paid $1.99 (11.99-10.00 coupon).

I agree for all of the people that have been tempted to use them, now is a good time to try!

You could also try the 12 Pack of AA Batteries for $11.99 before rebate.

Kenji4861, that's why I wrote in my post "In the worst case scenario, if they don't send you the rebate, you at least got this product for FREE anyway." :)

I remember a few weeks ago a local store tried to sell me a pack of PlentiCell batteries and she called them Duracell. I bet most people wouldnt even pay attention to the name on the batteries, b/c they look so similar. They're probably repackaged tampons or something, who knows.

It doesn't say anything about the PlentiCell batteries being Alkaline batteries. This means that they are probably the 4-6/$1 dollar store variety transistor "heavy duty" batteries. In short, if you get them for $2, that is good, because it is probably all they are worth. I would spend the $10 coupon on something else. :)

flenn,

That "Brian Livingston" is obviously not worthy of working for "News.com" since nothing that he said was any type of "news" or "new information," just the same babble you always hear. For every 1 person that said they have a bad experience, there are 100 others who are willing to say that they spent a bazillion dollars and got all their rebates, go figure.

That's the beauty of this, and other, forums.

Before I ordered from CR I read about them here. I also PM'd a few folks with questions and they were kind enough to share their experiences. Based on those exchanges I went ahead and ordered and it's been a pretty good deal for me.

I've probably done 25 rebates through Cyberrebates and received them all with no problems.

I agree with Alex, that article was pretty lame. He seemed very one sided. I emailed him regarding his statement about "inflated credit card charged"...That was kind of misleading, like they are charging more to your credit card than you ordered.

I don't think he did his research. He really makes it sound like you will never get your checks. As someone who has spent over $30,000 at cyberrebate (and got it all back except for what it is not due yet), I have to say, they have been good to me.

I also fired off a letter to him. Very biased and poorly researched article. Notice that he didn't mention anyone with a positive experience? I know there are at least a few of us out there.

Generally I find that the media suck, and I say this having spent 24 years in TV newsrooms.

If the point of this thread is to make money, you can get 5% additional when you use ebates, and you also get free merchandise. How much more do you want?

Well guys, you've made me sorry that I posted the link. To be honest, I've never purchase anything from Cyberrebate but have heard positive things on this (and other) deal boards. I usually apply a healthy dose of cynicism to anything I see/read in the media, but with all of the recent troubles with e-commerce sites lately, it was easy to believe. Anyway, the coupon will come in handy for anyone who's apprehensive about purchasing from them.

Problem with the rebates is it takes about three months to get the rebate. With a $300 item the interest over the three months comes out to what the value of that over priced item would have cost you on net.

Two of my friends recently spent ~$180 on 3 items from CyberRebate.

Cost: $180
Rebate: ($180)
Postage: $10 (3 envelopes with delivery confirmation)
Total cost: ~$10

I went to the local Walmart and priced the items for just under $20. I'd rather spend $20 than worry for 3 months waiting for my rebate.

$300 @ 12%/year for 3 months = $9 I lost in interest.
$300 x 5% back from Dash = $15 I made in rebates.
Even if their prices are 10X retail, I still got a $30 item for free and made $6.

I am not recommending or discouraging the use of CR.
My personal fear is of them suddenly declaring Chapter 11 with my money in their account. :(

Ok, I see now that you have to have at least $10.00 of stuff in your cart to be able to use the $10 off coupon. It will not let you checkout if your total is less than ZERO.

If anyone picked up the laminating machines from Staples earlier this year, Cyberrebate has 4" x 6" laminating sleeves. They are free after MIR, $32.99 now. Log in through Ebates and use of the the $10 off, and earn about $12 for the priviledge of taking 50 sleeves, and lending them your money for 3 months. Sounds good to me!
