Now: incredibly pissed at mortgage broker

We were supposed to close on Friday.
Mortgage broker made errors - couldn't close Friday.
Purchase offer expired on Friday.

The house sat for 1 year without a realistic purchase offer.
NOW, we found out today that unless we close... today... we will not get it.

Pissed * 100.
More pissed than ever before in my life.
Someone take my car keys so I can't drive to where my mortgage broker is.

We are out thousands of dollars as a result of this.

Edit: tomorrow is our last possible chance at this place. (so far as we know)

1. buy shotgun
2. buy shells
3. load shells into shotgun
4. track down mortgage broker.
5. shoot him 😛

that really sucks though

sue the broker and the company

You should've came to me. 😉

Actually, I wish I knew where Olean is, since I live in the NYC area, so that actually could've been feasible.

That sucks, hope things work out. Same thing happened when I bought my house - tons of errors. Luckilly it just delayed us ~12 hours and all worked out exactly the same in the end. In fact, most of the people I know who have purchased a house have at least one story of a delay like that.

But I'm feeling like we need more information. Why are you out thousands? Will the owners no longer accept the previous deal? Is there another buyer? Etc?

It threw us into a panic Thursday and Friday.

Yesterday we talked to the person at the bank (that owns the property) - they said they would extend it up to 10 days with no penalty. But, that wasn't given to us in writing.

Fast forward to about 11 am today. Our realtor calls to tell us that the sellers realtor called to say they had a new purchase offer on the place and that if we didn't close today, our offer was dead.

That means... someone else wants to buy it suddenly.
GRRR
And, after today, it's their turn.

I have the shells

Hide my car keys. I don't want bubba as my new roommate.

I feel as though you could claim insanity.

Damn man.. that sucks royal ass.

Do everything you can! Threaten your mortgage broker? I dunno if that would actually help anything or not, but damn...

Yeah, I got the news about 1 minute bofore I started teaching my calculus class.
I think I was white as a ghost for about 5 minutes.
Thank god it was an exceptionally easy lesson today (definition of the derivative)
I showed where it came from, what it is, the symbols for it, 1 example problem, then gave them homework. I was done in 10 minutes on the dot. 32 minutes left for them to work on HW.

Wow....if I remember right you were already having problems with them pulling crap out of their arse earlier, like the appraisal or whatever it was.

I would definitely get a lawyer to look at what you have and see if you can get some of this money back.

Although that won't help not getting the property that fit you and you could have, and should have, been living in now.

Usually has a contigent upon getting a mortgage clause. You go the mortgage techincally. The bank messed up.

What is the wording for the clsoe date? "Close by date XXX or clsoe on XXX?". Closing dates commonly float around. Mine has moved in the past atleast once.

Also, the buyers should not be entertaining offers at this time. You have an agreement to purchase on the table already.

You will get your deposit back by the way. jsut have hte lawyer raise a stink.

That sucks. How are you out thousands? I think with us we could have canned the deal at the last minute and been out only a couple hundred from the inspection or something like that.

I've heard about FAR too many people screwed by mortgage brokers. The field is full of useless ones. Was this guy recommended to you? Goodluck, and for all you know the house will get taken out by a tornado or something if you don't buy it, so maybe it's for the best 😀

Mortgage brokers, stock brokers, etc. Too many of them are dishonest douches, aviod them like a plague. Why didnt you try credit union or banks directly. I got my mortgage from credit union. You dont have to worry about getting screwed by them.

I think he would be out some money because he started to apply repairs to the property on the assumption that the settlement would soon be near.
