Now I need a gmail acct to have a youtube acct?

You won't be able to comment on videos, thumbs up/down videos, or save videos to a playlist, but otherwise it's still quite usable.

Alternatives:

When they prompt you to login to view a restricted video, use NSFWYoutube.

Use Plex Queue for creating playlists and watching videos (not just Youtube videos) on your SmartTV/HTPC/set-top box/PC/Tablet/Phone.

Use Grooveshark to listen to music and create playlists.

On a side note, the Plex Youtube channel is superior to the official Youtube channel for Roku.

What difference does it make? I have one, but I've never checked it. If it ceased to function as an email account I'd never even know.
 
Worse: You need G+. that has spy shit all over it that tracks you IRL. Not sure how they do it, but they have ways. Basically you'll login to the new account and it will already have added people you know to your friends list. How the hell does it know? People can also add you without your consent. There's no concept of a friend request. If someone wants to be your friend they just add you and that's it.

Make sure you use a fake name, maybe it just uses your real name to try to dig up info off other social media sites like Facebook or something. Just a guess though.

The way I see it:

Facebook: For family and IRL friends, coworkers etc...
Youtube: For "internet life"

Don't want to mix the two. But G+ does mix the two without your consent.

Really some day I'll have to experiment and try to figure out what G+ does to find out info on you. It may in fact be as simple as the name. Originally when I made my first google account it was for adsense so I used my real name but if I made a new account just for youtube I would just use a completely fake name.

There are several ways they can get this info. For starters, these friends are probably in your Android phone's contact list, or you are in your friend's Android phone's contact list (complete with email, phone, real name, possibly including street address and birthday, etc). Doesn't matter which email address you use, if you link your phone or real name to that email account they got you.

Smartphones are a treasure trove...

Figured it out. At the bottom of the results was the message "Omitted results very similar to the 100 results show. Click here to see all results." Or some similar wording. Clicked show all and got 2.4 billion.

There is a new ad-free alternative to spacedbook now called Ello, Unfortunately it currently by invitation only. There is a paid version of Ello as well, I'm not sure of the added benefits. I'm just curious to see if it's going to turn into just another spacedbook.

Of course it is one big account, it's easier to track what you do that way. I don't think that if a online company buys another company/site that the two should be able to interchange user information freely between them. Like Google and YouTube. I shouldn't be required to have a Google account just to be able to have a YouTube account.

Whatever though, I'm not going to have a Google account so I'm not going to have a YouTube account. I wont be missing out on anything, they are.

I have to give credit to Apple & Google for this:

I read that Apple and Google have begun encrypting the data of customers so that nobody, including Apple and Google, have plaintext access to it.

This of course means “so that the government will not have access to it.” The FBI is terribly upset about this, the first serious resistance against onrushing Orwellianism. God bless Apple and Google. But will they be able to stand up to the feds?
