Now I need a gmail acct to have a youtube acct?

How long has this been going on? I know it hasn't been that long since I've used my YouTube acct. Oh well, If this is the case I guess that I won't have a YouTube acct.
 
I'll wait for tomorrow's thread where OP discovers he also 'needs' a Google+ account.
 
You really only need an account if you upload videos. I've pretty much abandoned my Youtube account. I use Gmail for legacy contacts, but I eventually want to get away from Google altogether. Gmail is the last Google service I use(that they know of).
 
you can keep it separate from your google account if you want, I did that. It creates some kind of virtual google account with a stupid e-mail address.

Finally, someone in the world that is able to just make a conscious decision not to use a free service instead of whining and complaining that they have to do something to get the free service.

I never will have anything Google. I abandoned Google a few years ago when they started selling their info to NSA. Facebook like 5 years ago. I'm not in to that whole selling personal information for money thing, So Google, Microsoft, Apple, Facebook, these are all things I avoid.

They forced all the "original" accounts to become Google accounts long ago. For a couple years they would pester you about it when you logged it, then one day they forced it. I haven't logged in since then.

Sounds like another one to add to my list of avoids (It's getting pretty big, I might have to write it down somewhere). I guess that you dont have to have an account to see the videos at least. If that happens, goodbye forever.

You can still watch videos (so long as they aren't marked "mature") but you can't reply/comment or upload. I don't care about any of those things.
