bus had tv, police did not cut news feed, gunman has full live video coverage on rescue team.... WTF!

Hmm that almost sounds like it would be the last mission of such a video game. How do you win this? The only reasonable thing I can really think of is to smash the windows with sledge hammers then flood the bus with tear gas and concussion grenades. A few people might die, but I think I can do better than 8.

There was a part where one of the cops accidentally through his sledge hammer inside the bus, and reached in to grab it.

probably scared shitless.
at that range and through bus metal, he coulda just shot them through the side of the bus pretty much if he wanted to. i'm surprised he didn't fire more rounds at the police through the side of the bus. if he had really wanted to kill more it could have been done. all he did was fire out the window like an idiot in a burst which is more like a warning. and yea that one burst at the door when some tried to poke their heads in. so yea the gunmans head was just all over the place at that point.

If you watch the video carefully, you will see AFTER the gunman was killed with body hanging on the door, the police began firing at least 30 rounds into the bus. Some hostages were definitely killed by those bullets. Not to mention the poor guy whose skull was cracked by the sledge hammer.

At 6 sec the gunman was killed on the door; then you can hear the police gun shots until 18 sec, at least 30 rounds. At 14 sec, the bullets were hitting the window. When the gun fire stopped, there were many scattered holes on the window.
