Big, huge, sloppy tags around here are sometimes gang related. Get rid of it. Consider motion sensing lights, too.

I'd paint over it tonight if it was my fence, and deal with the replacement/repair later. I don't let grafitti stay more than 24 hours if I have anything to say about it.

I gotta get hold of the city's anti-graffiti number so I can start reporting all the stuff I see around my part of town. I saw them drive by once a couple years ago, so I know we had one at some point. I know this stuff is gang related, and drive around the parts where I see it frequently enough that I could have the city come out and erase it every day or two (if they would actually do that).
They've actually tagged the side of one person's house at least three times. At least the rest of it isn't on someone's house.

You are correct. If i had an outside dog, the barking would have kept this person away.

Good point! Sundog, call 612-673-2090, and look here: http://www.ci.minneapolis.mn.u...graffiti.asp#TopOfPage

I had a police report taken earlier today. Think I also need to call?

Nah. The cops have probably forwarded your report to that department already (or else they will tomorrow).

why replace it? wait for warmer weather ... or paint over it.

The fence is natural, no paint. And this one side of the fence is 110 feet long and all the wood was weathering nicely. :|

I am not going to leave the tag up for 3 months.

indeed, a bigass dog keeps a number of people away. the only people who go into my yard that we don't know are insurance salemen or other peddlers looking for money.

The little dog inside keeps me aware of anyone near the house....since the big dog likes food and seems to be rather forgiving of anyone who gives him any :)

Would love to have a "roving" big ass dog take a bite out of him. It has to be a "roving";) one so that he can sue me for getting bitten.

Make it legal to shoot "taggers" and put a bounty on their heads... then see how long this crap lasts.

I'm not normally one to act in such a vigilante manner, but in this case I completely agree.

Will try and get a pic when I get home from work. It is large, but not well done even. At least it was done in a green color so it does not stand out like a bright color would.

Is painting over it out of the question? Not sure if that's been asked because I haven't read all the posts.

What kind of fence? Can't you use a pressure washer?

Spray paint on raw pressure treated lumber......I asked some folks at the Sherman-Williams paint store about using a pressure washer and they seemed to think I was SOL.

You can damage the wood fibers by pressure washing.

Also a motion detector would work wonders.

I agree, but I would have to wire up motion sensors for 110 feet and there is a sidewalk that runs parallel to the fence 15 feet away so the sensors would have be set up to not go off when someone is just walking on the sidewalk.

When I got home and looked at it, they saw the fence and parked a car on the street right there. One could see the footprints in the snow.
