anyone watch Mute yet?
reviews are looking brutal
Mute/7/10
We watched it today, and both enjoyed it. I have not read any reviews on it, so can't compare. Reviews were not kind to Bright, but we liked it too. Mute has several place-able faces, and the futuristic aspect is there but not over the top. Its basically a love story with some drama. Something that has been done many times over. Guy and girl are happy. Girl has a secret past, bad things happen, good ending. I didn't want to get into too many specifics. Acting was good, some humor thrown in, the ending was predictable. But I wouldn't pass it up if looking for a decent movie to kill time with. BUT like several Netflix movies lately, not fucking 4K. Ugh!
Irreplaceable You, 8/10, also on Netflix and just released. This movie also has some semi-famous people on in. Christopher Walken was great as he always is. The lead lady was just in another Netflix movie, The Cloverfield Paradox. I like seeing repeat people in movies. This movie is a tear jerker, with a lot of humor in it. I rated it higher than some may, just because the couple is like us and we like to support that in whatever way we can. Its sad though. Also brings up conversations on what you would do if something happened. Hits a bit close to home with stuff our family is going through, yet we still really enjoyed it. If you have a special someone in the right circumstance, be prepared to fight back some tears. NOT 4K.
When We First Met 6/10 again on Netflix. We're really watching a lot there anymore. Good feel good comedy. I like the main actor, from his days in Workaholics and Modern Family. Nothing really that great about it, some good music and some comedy. When cold outside, an easy watch. NOT 4K.
Just started
Everything Sucks on Netflix, and finally something in 4K. Throwback to the 90's, which we can relate to. I am early 90's, wife is late 90's. But plenty of reminders from days gone by. Clearly a copy cat in part to Stranger things. Geeky kids in highschool, freshmen. Joined the AV club. One black guy in the group, who likes a white girl. So on and so on. Still enjoyable 2 episodes in though. Mostly for nostalgia, the music and things that no longer exist.
Girls Trip 8/10. REALLY funny in parts. More relatable to certain demographics, but anyone can find it funny. The grapefruit scene is hilarious. My wife horse laughed so many times, would have been fun to see in the theater. Clifs, old college group was tight, grows apart. Gets back together in a real world event that is actually very fun, and reunites to bond together and fight off adversity. Just overall really funny, stomach hurt a few times.
