baahubali 2 - 4/10?

Pretty bad. Amazed this has any good reviews. It's laughably bad. CGI is constant and horrendously done. Glad it's for free in 4k on YouTube but what's the point?

MAN is this movie nothing but a cheesefactory. I was really hoping for some quality but the jump cuts between scenes, the pretty bland story, and generally bad dubbing or audio work (I don't know what version I watched but it felt pretty damn dubbed) was just eh.

#2 film in India of all time or something? What?

this film has everything that i want: action, adventure, evil villain, an epic journey, self-discovery, a training montage, the comedy sidekick, dick jokes, and most important of all, Kung-Fu.

Sidhu is a street cook in India's Chandni Chowk market; once an orphan, he was raised by his stern stepfather in a honest, but humble way. Sidhu, now an adult, spends most of his days chopping potatoes to make Bombai Aloo, but yearns for something greater, often spending all his pay on fortune tellers, and hoping one of them will finally reveal to him a hidden secret worth living for.
Unfortunately, all of them agree that he is just a poor, useless bastard.

Until one day, one of the worst fortune tellers of the bunch, for dodgy reasons, convinces him that he is the reincarnation of a once great warrior. Sidhu isn't the brightest bulb in the box, and falls for this story, immediately setting forth on a journey to mystical China, to become the great warrior, Liu Shen.

Aaand he gets his ass whopped.

What will happen to Sidhu? Will he run back to Chandni Chowk to cook potatoes for the rest of his life? Will he raise up to the challenge, conquer all and eventually get the girl?

Find out all this and more, in Chandni Chowk To China

I absolutely adore this film. The current rating on IMDb is a whopping 4 out 10, possibly because it offends the sensibilities of Indians, which should be a plus for anyone who thinks bollywood films are crap. So, everyone.
The film is your typical dumb & dumber comedy, Sidhu is a genuine moron, a klutz, completely deluded about his abilities. The film explores that avenue, and when everything's done, it changes into your Rocky success story / Jackie Chan action film. There's the obligatory Bollywood singing which qualifies just about every film as a musical, but i found CC2C to be much less offensive than your standard fare, and some of the songs i actually quite like. There's a bunch of really cool moments in this film, and while you are thinking "this comedy stuff is quite funny" you find yourself watching a film with quite some depth ..

So if you want to have a laugh, but also be inspired, and listen to some catchy tunes while you do that, then you need to watch this film.

In other words, stop being miserable, and watch Chandni Chowk To China !!

(you will need subtitles; it's in Hindi. Do it and tell yourself this makes you even more cultured and hip)

I finally got a chance to finish The Punish on Netflix. 9/10 . Probably my favorite so far of the Marvel spin offs.

This series really wasn't what I was expecting. That's not a bad thing. It just picked up at a different timeline than I thought it would, and direction and style they approached it was very different than any other of Marvels shows. And that's really what you need to know going into this. This series takes Jessica Jones/DareDevil/Luke Cage/ect and turns them on their head. It was an incredibly refreshing, much deeper dive into a character than they have in the past. There's no super power plot armor (other than unhumanly constitution by Frank Castle). There are characters that are profoundly troubled with *REAL* issues. As others have said, for vets I had to think that this series was incredibly hard to watch. There are some very raw, human experiences in this series that none of the other Marvel shows touched on.

Other than Karen Paige showing up a few times, there was little to no overlap with previous characters or shows. It's done almost entirely in a vacuum and sort of a reboot from what the Punisher was in Daredevil. It was very dark, very deep, and at times - very real. If you are expecting non-stop vigilante torture/revenge porn like he was in Dare Devil, you'll be a bit disappointed. This is a much slower burn with some episodes having very little "real" action outside of a few minutes of burst fire at the beginning or end.

I finished Wormwood a couple nights ago. It's slow at parts and really takes its time giving out information but by the end I really liked it. The last 3 parts were very good, the last one in particular.

I still have two episodes of Dark to watch but it's a really good show. Any comparison to Stranger Things is completely misleading and insulting to Dark. If anyone has been on the fence about it, you should watch it

What?? This movie was not scary in the least....I did like it though.

As for Dark...we're about 2/3 the way through. I find it slow and boring, but the wife likes it.

Brawl in Cell Block 99 (2017)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5657856/

Vince Vaughn has changed his tune , first in Hacksaw Ridge now here: he is a bad ass good guy former boxer who goes to prison when a drug deal collapses and, on principle, fights his way to a heroic conclusion. The reason to watch the film is to see the fights, quite realistic for close quarter battles. These gems certainly will join other memorable hand-to-hand fights as the best of modern cinema. We should start a separate thread on that topic.

On seeing your post, this sounded like it might be good. So I've just begun watching the first episode and so far it's ok, but I'm getting a supernatural, UFO, government conspiracy vibe. Which I'm not into at all.

What's it about, without spoilers?

* Edit *

Should have watched five minutes more. LOL. Government conspiracy it is. But looks like it could still be good.

The game is, but not in VR yet..coming this year. They decided to make the VR portion timed exclusive.

For me, so far it's been Alien: Isolation in VR....holy hell that game was tense before....

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel series 8 episodes 8/10
Amazon original. Really funny series set in the late 50s about a married Jewish couple that split up and the wife ends up trying her hand at stand up comedy. The 50s sets and costumes are all great and anytime the couple's parents are on which is a lot it is hilarious, the wife's dad is Toney Shalhoub and the husband's is Kevin Pollak. Give it a shot.
