The Collection is the sequel to The Collector (I reviewed them both a few pages ago). You can watch The Collection w/o having seen the Collector, but I don't recommend it as the 2nd one takes place right after the first. The problem is, The Collector is not as good as The Collection. I really liked The Collection quite a bit.

However, I scratch my head when someone asks an internet forum about renting a $1 movie... :)

well i didn't ask whether i should rent it or not, i asked if anyone has seen it and what they thought about it.

Wreck It Ralph 4.5/5 - Liked it a lot. It was a little slow in the middle, but overall, another awesome Pixar movie. Loved all the old comic book characters.

NOT PIXAR!

To me, the difference is obvious.

Deadfall - 7/10

I thought Eric Bana did a great job, as usual, and the cast in general was decent. Nothing great but I thought it was worth the Redbox rental.

It is not about the cost of the movie, but the opportunity cost of watching it. Many of us with families and full time jobs don't have much time to watch movies. I have time to watch 1 or 2 movies a week at best, I would rather not waste that time on movies that suck.

The Croods - 8/10 - Was a really good family move that both my wife and I also enjoyed. Kept the girls (12 and 8) entertained throughout and had some moving and emotional scenes that were well done.

Silver Linings Playbook -- 10/10
Somewhere between rom-com and drama, I found this movie to be very...real. Something about the struggles of the main characters and how it's so easy to relate to for almost everybody. Jennifer Lawrence was awesome as expected, but truthfully, I felt Bradley Cooper had just as good of a performance. Some of his scenes were really intense, kinda just kept waiting for him to rage out of the screen or something.

Zero Dark Thirty -- 3/10
Probably another expectations thing, I thought it would be more military type stuff instead of intelligence stuff. I have other gripes, but my main one otherwise is that I think there are some things that just shouldn't be made into a movie. I'd put ZDT in that category. Also was about an hour too long. I'm not really surprised that I didn't like it, I didn't care for the Hurt Locker either.

A Good Old Fashioned Orgy -- 4/10
Would have been way more entertaining if I was 16. Had a few semi-funny scenes, but nothing more. I think I've probably aged past this type of movie.

Our Idiot Brother -- 6.5/10
Loved the cast of this movie. Wish they could've worked in a bit more screen time for some of them. Storywise,
semi-lame that it was all about the dog. I guess that's the feel good part of it.

The Expendables -- 4/10
Passable at what it is. Action flick. /shrug

The Guard -- ?/10
Fell asleep for 45 minutes or so in the middle, so I can't fairly rate it. Haven't decided if I'm going to bother rewatching the whole thing or not, the beginning was meh, but I liked where the movie ended up, so....I don't know. Had a hard time understanding some of the accents because I'm lame like that.

Game Change -- 7/10
As I was watching this, all I wanted to know was how much of the behind-the-scenes stuff was accurate -- we all can see the tape of the Couric interview, but we can't see what was actually said in various conference/hotel rooms. Wish they would've gotten someone a bit older to play John McCain, and I don't like that he was the only character that really swore in the movie, as I don't really view him that way IRL. Political views aside, if the "bringing her up to speed" / debate & interview prep aspect of this movie is accurate, it could be categorized as a horror film. The campaign staffers seem to say it's fairly accurate while McCain/Palin say it's not for obvious reasons, so your guess is as good as mine. I thought it was fairly well paced, about on par with the few other HBO movies I've seen.

House of Cards -- 8/10
Activated a streaming sub for this, dropped it again as soon as we were done. Really like where this series is going. Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright were excellent choices for their roles -- to me they seem to have some serious on-screen chemistry. Story is decent, again we're back to "how accurate is this type of stuff" but my guess is that it's pretty much accurate. Definitely want to know when the next season is going to be released.
Slightly annoyed that they carried so many stories into the next season or the to-be-released second half of the season. I'm a person that likes closure, and the end of these 10 episodes did not provide it.

Species 1 and 2 are on Netflix!

Not news, but cool in the least. Almost done with Species 1. Definitely worth a watch, especially if male. Natasha is hot and loves being naked. The story line is prretty good. It is pretty much a chase movie where it's humans vs. alien. Just turn off your brain and enjoy. It's that kind of movie. 7/10

It's been a long time since i watched Species so it is a fun ride to see it again. Having never seen Specieis 2, I am actually excited to see it this weekend.

I get ya, but don't say it like I'm not one of them :D Granted these days I almost watch movies as background noise...

Rope - 7/10

A old Hitchcock movie from 1948 in color starring Jimmy Stewart. More art that entertainment as the film's camera work is amazing. The actors are all fantastic with dialogue and the character development is excellent. This is a 10/10 film and one of Hitchcock's finest movies.

It just wasn't that enjoyable from an entertainment perspective so it gets a 7.

I remember watching this when I was a teen. I asked my mom to tape it (go VHS!), and she initially refused. I said something along the lines of, "But mom, you let us tape Striptease!" (Yeah... she did. :p) She couldn't content with my sharp logic, and I got to see alien boobies! Excellent!

Life of Pi - 8.5/10 - Thought it was awesome. I don't think it'll go down as one of my all-time faves, but I'd recommend it to most anybody, and really did enjoy it.

Spring Breakers - 8/10

Fantastic movie.

But...
I can guarantee that there will be MANY haters.
This is an art movie, firstly, which automatically means many will dislike it for the style of it alone.

To me, it's essentially a story on the sad state of society that something like this is even somewhat realistic.

Lots of boobies and beautiful women will attract a lot of casual movie viewers who will watch and essentially wonder wtf they watched, which will result in lower ratings than this movie deserves.

Really good movie though...just best to go in expecting an art movie to appreciate it IMHO.

The Man with the Iron Fists 7/10
This is another really stupid movie but lots of fun. There is really no plot and the acting isn't anything special but I loved the ridiculous over the top fighting scenes which is pretty much all this movie is. If you just want a dumb movie with pretty scenes and blood flying everywhere you will probably like this.

Argo 9/10 - Thought this was a great film. Affleck does it again and I hope he continues putting out excellent content.

Was hoping to rent Life of Pi but not at Redbox yet so next choice was Lincoln. We'll be firing that one up as soon as the bball game is over. Can't wait!

lincoln - 8/10

i liked it but it was definitely a slow movie. i also did not know it was pretty much just about the 13th ammendment though it was more than that. i also was kind of disappointed because in general i don't know much about lincoln, but i always pictured him as a very stern hard ass with a really deep and powerful sounding voice. but he was actually very soft and sincere, and talked very very gently.

Alex Cross - 2/10
Almost everything sucked about this movie.

I think you meant: -2000/10. This was just a terrible, terrible fucking movie. WTF were they thinking bringing Tyler Perry in as the lead?? No direction at all to this movie. And awful acting = atomic bomb.

G.I. Joe Retaliation - 7/10 - Its a action movie. I rate it a 7 if you keep in mind what it is. I thought it had plenty of action and the story want that bad. Few parts i kind of rolled my eyes at but overall i thought it was decent. If you expect great acting and great story youll be disappointed though. But for a movie you can sit back, relax, and just watch it aint bad
