The CGI and visual (in the little boat) are spectacular (at least 9/10 IMO) but the story is just a bit odd and not that great.

meh, I liked it and the mindfuck at the end was not expected.

I watched the it the second time with the mindset of
him being the tiger, so there was a ton of foreshadowing everywhere and lots of areas where you can analyze if you so choose. kept the second viewing very fresh

That said, one question about the movie:
WTF is the significance of the carnivorous island?

Well, he did ask the white guy which story would be better? The one just being told or the one he told the 2 Japanese insurance adjusters later for their official report. The orange monkey, zebra, tiger, and him could all be someone else (as in humans), so he could be the only survivor from the lifeboat and he was out of his mind then.

The island was one of the many wierd ones, changed from good (day time) to bad (night time), would that possible with marine science or was just in his mind went beserk?

As I said, not a bad movie but kinda strange, not the good strange of Inception.

Jack Reacher 6.5/10 - Watched a week ago with my bro. Can hardly recall it now, but was mildly entertained at the time.

After some googling, I'm gonna take the internet interpretation that the island is a metaphor for religion.

I love crappy horror movies but this thing was just boring. It is several found footage short movies wrapped up inside another found footage film. Each one is 80-90% boring crappy home movie style while the ends where something actually happens isn't explained and makes no sense. I ended up fast forwarding through 3/4s of the last couple of the shorts just to get it over with. Just came up for streaming on Netflix.

Meh. Nothing resonated. Was it my being feverish or could they not decide what time period they were using for this movie? Or did the script suck that much?

I also loved this. One of the most intense moments in cinema history.

Following (Chris Nolan's first movie) - 8/10
For a 70 minute black and white movie shot in 4:3 format I enjoyed it. In usual Nolan fashion there is a twist in the end and the story is split into chucks played semi out of order like Memento. This is on netflix streaming and worth watching if you like his other movies.

If you're in the mood for a futuristic action flick, definitely rent it. I wish I could unwatch it, so I can rent it again.

Of course it goes without saying, stream it in HD or rent the RedBox BD.

I paid the usual exorbitant theater price to see Looper, and I think it was a decent movie. I wasn't raving over it, but I wasn't dissatisfied!

Ok 2 more movies then. I have not seen the original Total Recall. Should I see that version first before I see the new one? I do love Arnold flicks.

The other movie is Seeking a Friend for the End of the World.

Thoughts?

I would maybe give this one a 6/10? It's been a few weeks since I saw it, but overall I guess it was a pretty decent flick. I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it either. If you like Steve Carell you will enjoy the humor. It isn't hilarious, but there are some amusing parts. It is one of those feel-good type movies, that doesn't really deliver IMO. Just kind of "meh", but not terrible either. Probably worth a watch, but if you never saw it, your not missing out on anything either.

I think its the reason that the remake did poorly. People who watched the original as a teen/twentysomething know that it was so far from needing redone it wasn't even worth a redbox of the new one. Its follows the style of other Paul Verhoeven movies(guns & blood sprinkled with corny multimedia), i would put it behind Robocop, but over Starshiptroopers.
