Same. Definitely my most anticipated. I'll be a sad panda if it gets delayed.

Le Cercle Rouge - 9.5/10: Only my second Jean-Pierre Melville film, but he is very quickly becoming one of my favourite directors. The man is an absolute technician, putting together meticulous scenes with so much detail, it's just amazing to watch. This is a nearly 2.5 hour film, with long set pieces containing minimal to no dialogue and does it in a way that is fascinating. The story here follows one criminal on the day of his release from prison and another criminal who escapes his captor; the two then come together and it pretty much becomes a heist movie from there. Melville says so much with just his camera, leaving the dialogue out, and nowhere is this more evident than in the heist scene which is absolutely epic! Anyway, great looking, tense, suspenseful film; just a fantastic piece of work. Now, on to some more Melville films!

He really is awesome. I think he's right there next to Kurosawa as my favorite directors. I actually started watching Le Cercle Rouge for the second time a couple nights ago, I started to doze off though. Probably not the best before bed movie :)

I'm pretty sure I liked Rouge more than Le Doulos and Bob Le Flambeur, but Army of Shadows is definitely my favorite of the bunch. Still working my way through the rest

I have some work to do to catch-up! He is a master and I feel a bit ashamed that I had not watched any of his stuff earlier.

What's the rental system you use/how does it work?

This place: http://www.zip.ca/ it's discs only, and getting a particular disc I want right away is near impossible, but they have tonnes of obscure titles and is really the only viable option up here right now.

One day I will try Netflix.ca, but I just never feel motivated to use my free month for whatever reason. :hmm:

That's a pain :/ I'm not sure what I'd do without Netflix. It's ridiculous that they can't offer a solid service up there.

Another slow week with nothing too exciting getting any sort of decent release. I'll probably go see Silent House. Worst case scenario I'll just be staring at Elizabeth Olsen for an hour and a half

I'm guilty of not having seen Le Cercle Rouge (Only Melville I've seen is Army of Shadows.)

I have Several Melville's in mf Netflix Queue ... guess I should really watch them some time :)

Haven't been watching too many movies the last week or two since I got X3 Albion Prelude finally, and I've been redoing my living room floor ... (tore out carpet ... putting in some vinyl planks) ... Maybe this weekend though ...

Hugo 8/10 - I really loved pretty much everything about the art in this movie. It's a good story, not great, but definitely compelling. High on the list for anyone who loves good cinematography.

I recently saw this movie as well. I loved the cinematoraghy and the characters but for some reason i felt disconnected in the last 15 mins of the movie. I wasnt really sure what was trying to be portraid and left like i missed something. But overall i liked the movie and it could just be me that the ending felt weak or a letdown somehow.

Yep, it was already on my Letterboxd watch list! :awe:

I think we may be seeing Friends With Kids this weekend. Looks like a decent rom-com and it has Adam Scott, who I'm a huge fan of. I really wanted to see I Am Bruce Lee, but it's only playing tonight for some stupid reason.

Nobody going to John Carter of Mars? :whiste:

Ohh yea, Army of Shadows was awesome, I simply have been watching "lighter" movies as of late as I've been watching a lot less movies overall due to my excessive gaming and such :)

i will add this. i liked Jodha Akbar. have Delhi Belly and Dostana in queue now

Jodha Akbar is top notch. One of the best mainstream Bollywood I've liked in recent memory. Hrithik Roshan

Delly Belly is OK, it reminds me of every other Guy Ritchie films. It is fun, but not great. I did not like dostana at all, it is a standard Bollywood fare.. nothing special.
