Synchronicity - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2049543/reference

i don't why i keep watching films about time travel ...

ok, so i liked the beginning of the film. The director obviously cares about the film, and they take pains to make it seem realistic. The lead actors seem involved, michael ironside phones it in as always, and the two supporting actors do their best which isn't much.

the story, is bad. the film attempts to mix hard scifi with romance (who the hell choses pussy over time travel, seriously), which is never a good idea, because romance in film = romance film. And the science is SO much more interesting than anything else.

But they throw in a half baked villain, a limiting factor of the protagonist having headaches, and stretch the plot so far it becomes paper thin.

Also, the photography guy tried for that smoky, Blade Runner look, but winds up making the film look mostly blue.

i would not recommend this film, not even to sci-fi lovers .. especially to sci-fi lovers.

being generous, i'll say 5.5/10 - it's not garbage, but it's a shame how much wasted potential this film has.

Keanu - 6.5/10

I was really looking forward to this because - kitteeeeehhhhhhss. Also Key and Peele have such a good rep as comics. And the movie was ok but it was mostly cringe humor. By that I mean they kept getting into these cringe-worthy situations but there wasn't much humor in addition to the cringe factor.

This movie had so much potential and in my opinion they just wasted it. It was still amusing and I'm glad I saw it, but I would wait for it to come out on disc rather than waste the money.

I saw the r-rated trailer. looked funny but I hate cringe worthy scenarios.
thx for saving 2hrs of my life.

what do you think they could have done differently to live up to the potential you saw?

Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 6/10 - felt like a remake of the original.

Hateful Eight - 3/10 - such a terrible movie

Blackhat - 1/10 - so boring, can't believe I watched the whole thing.

Spectre 4/10

Wow what a stinker. Such a huge waste of so many things in this movie and a bad ending.

Have an awesome car? Use it literally once with a horrible car chase scene which Bond movies have always been known for. Have Monica Bellucci? Use her for less then 5min. Have a big bad enemy Batista? Kill him off waaay too easily and too soon

I know people didn't like this movie but wow this is the worst Craig Bond movie. Even Christoph Waltz sucked as the main villain.

I didn't like any of the Craig Bond movies. I guess I liked the originals too much.

Me personally I don't like Craig as a Bond as he's too serious, has zero fun in that role, just not a Bond to me, but I still did enjoy Casino Royale and Skyfall wasn't that bad, the other two were stinkers.

That's a good question. I don't have much of a comedic sense so I'm basically pulling this out of my ass, but I would say they could have done more riffing on thug life. And since the bad guys were drug dealers, they could have done more drug humor.

There's one scene with the woman from TV's Mom that I thought was one of the best in the movie. I would have liked to have seen more of that sort of thing.

Here come the you don't get it drones when it comes to the plot.
MM:FR is refreshing because it's exactly what it looks like. It doesn't pretend to be intellectual or have depth. It's just non-stop mayhem.

Pretty much what Ichinisan said. the plot is just there to have a reason for all the mayhem. It's Glorious Mayhem though.... of course as with all things film ymmv.

the Kevin Smith Marc Bernardin review of Mad Max: fury road has some interesting points to make about the movie for what that is worth.

Just saw Captain America: Civil War First impression is 9/10 for me. It may lower after subsequent viewings but I'm definitely seeing it at least once more.

Zack Snyder should be taking notes on how to have a not ridiculous way to get superheroes to fight.

Captain America - Civil War 8.5/10

Pretty muched loved it. Highly entertaining and some great action/fight scenes. Story was kinda meh, you figure out what's going on pretty quickly, and the intro to a few characters was kinda wtf, but by far the best Captain America/Avengerish movie to date for me. Would watch again.

Captain America: Civil War 9/10

It was good, and spiderman and ant man are great additions to the team. The writing wasn't strong but it wasn't nonsense like BvS. The ending obviously leads to Infinity War, but wasn't horrible either. I'm really looking forwards to Spiderman Homecoming. Some of the fight scenes are sped up though and that didn't look too good.

The Revenant - Nearly everything about this movie seemed right up my ally, but I could never really get into it. The entire emotional drive of Glass and his surrounding tragedies just never hit me, not even slightly. I honestly think it was DiCaprio, he did well enough making the survival story believable, but it was a bit one note, as I never got anything else out the performance. Tom Hardy was as great as ever though, he just becomes every character he plays.

The movie is beautiful to look at and has some neat scenes to be sure, and I'm ultimately glad I saw it, but it's not one that will stick with me. Maybe I'll revisit it some day, see if I get anything more out it.

Fun Fact:

Thats the real James Bond.

Ian Fleming wrote the books after himself. It was Sean Connery's idea to make him silly. The producers kept going with it.

At least it was better than most of the prequels :) . I'd give it, hmmm, 6.5 - 7 / 10.

It's too bad they aren't making movies from the stories of KOTOR 1 and maybe 2, though 2 would probably not do well thanks to the amount of philosophizing about the Force and light side vs. dark side.

yeah, that's what I like about Craig--he's closer to the "real" Bond than any portrayal previously. Though, if you look at Dr No and FRWL (that being my 1st or 2nd favorite ever), those first two Connery roles he was playing quite the hardass.

Casino Royale was easily one of the best in the series. I agree that the others were disappointing or even stinkers. I did like Spectre, though. Not great....but I preferred it to the previous two (they mostly feel like Bourne movies)

i just watched a masterpiece:

From Paris With Love - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1179034/reference

first off, i had no idea this film existed. i caught it because someone mentioned it in a youtube comment.

let's start from the bottom, the vote: 9/10 - amazing.

i loved every scene of this film, there wasn't one single scene i thought was badly written, badly done, or even of a mood not fitting the film.

the story is slightly reminiscent of Training Day, the good cop is paired up with the bad/insane/lawbreaking cop (John Travolta) because of important stuff. Travolta proceeds to blow up half of paris.

Imagine taking your favourite Tom Cruise action film, and removing all the corny stuff Tom Cruise from it; From Paris is just relentless action, fun, action, fun, comedy, violence, more action, fun and violence. The few slower scenes help the pacing instead of diluting the fun. As of now, most fun i've had in 2016 film.

also,
the ending is shit

but we've all come to expect that.

Interesting, did you watch it on Hulu (Criterion Collection)? I've enjoyed other Japanese dramas like The Eel and High and Low so this might be another reason for me to get a Hulu sub.

I saw it on disk. I also saw High and Low before, and it's great. Thanks for mentioning The Eel.

Finally, I found out that there's a new streaming service being set up:
