FWIW.. I did a couple of Dell $100 rebates. They were very fast and I got them both.Rebate's too large. Hate to have to wait for $150 that might not ever come.

Damn where were you when I was orderingToro 45, I think GeForce4 MX is a mistake. It's a crappy vcard. They are selling GeForce Ti4200 128 MB for around 140-150 nowadays. You may consider...

I don't think it's a crappy video card but it won't be my primary video I'll probably just swap it out with my Radeon 8500 or my sons Radeon 7500 & move it to one of my other boxes. The crappy card is the one they default you with (ATI Rage) I like the option to upgrade to the G4 MX with TV out for $20.00 more

I just submitted the order:
2.4G, 256MB DDR RAM, 40GB HD, gForce Ti4200 64MB.
Total comes $829.08 (Including CA Tax), or $679.08 AR.
(No shipping cost, 10% off coupon code is working)
Not a flaming hot deal, but hot enough. Easy and painless - I received my last Dell $100 rebate within 4 weeks.
Yes, I may save a few bucks if I assemble a PC myself, and overclock it. Yet too much trouble, and not worth the time nowadays. 1-year warranty from Dell maybe useless, but it's better than 30-day or none at all.
I will report back when I receive the PC, and test games like GTA III, Mafia, Morrowinf, NWN etc.
Thanks again, iwearnosox!

Well Dell just called- the 4500 order I placed on 9/5 is now delayed until 9/18? Anyone else receive such an order delay?
Can this be leveraged into a discount by calling to cancel?

No, you want to wait until you receive the system then call them stating you want to return your system ... you'll get transferred to their retention department which might offer you a partial refund of anywhere from $75 to $200 to keep it.

Ha! Good luck pulling that one off!Dell is already loosing money on these 4500s purchased with coupons MIRs. Last time we tried to get "compensation" for delayed order with mulitiple 4500 machines that we received three weeks late both the rep that placed our and retention dept. supervisor said we could either accept the systems or a local courier would pickup them up. I asked for a "discount and they said no way so I said pick them up! Unless your system purchase is over $1K and involved a monitor purchase, basically you can forget about "compensation". Actually in our area at least Dell no longer arranges for pickup of "returned" unitss. They sell them to local surplus dealers who are actually the people who pick them up. In our case that was an outfit in TN who actually contacted us and picked up the units. I spoke with the courier who picked up the units at our location and all he does is pickup Dell returns for their Computer Outlet Superstore in a five state region in the southeast. Actually it makes a lot of sense when you think about it.
