I'll let you all in on the biz info.
Thule now has minimum pricing for all vendors. This was to help the small businesses compete with the larger businesses like REI. So, EVERYONE should have the same regular ADVERTISED price. However, the actual price you walk out with can be severely less.
The 15% off sale at SportsRack (Now Gear on the GO) is actually VERY common. And, in fact, very useless. You should be able to walk in and take 15% off everything EVERYDAY. This includes Yakima crap. Very few items in racks are marked up less than 50% by the vendor, so %15 should be an easy discount for a successful business to handle.
On other issues, I aggree Thule is better than Yakima but it's only personal preference. Sometimes Yakima is better, at least for certain applications, but over all they are almost identical when comparing price, features and accessories. If you are really serious and want the best rack you can buy, then got to Sports Rack and get the Yakima track setup. I put this on my old 88 Accord becouase I hate using the extension parts for 2-door cars and I absolutely LOVED the thing. Anyway, this particular deal might be dead, but I'll bet you can get it anyway.
As Always,
D
