I've got a spare machine being returned to me (a 1GHz P-III) and I'd like to install some version of Linux on it (perhaps RedHat). I want to learn my way around Linux so I can have knowledge of the big 3 (Windows, Mac, Linux).

To make the machine useful to me, I require a Novell file server client for access to all my networked files. A GroupWise client would also be most helpful. Does anyone know if such beasts are available?

For file access you really just need the IPX kernel module (if you're still using IPX) and the ncp tools for things like ncpmount.

We're using the IP implementation of Novell... IPX was turned off a few months ago.

I applied and was accepted to the beta program for the Java client.
Downloaded it and installed it yesterday. Trouble is, it requires a certain package installed on the server side (in addition to the standard web access interface), and I've yet to convince our IT people to install it. Novell calls it "Tomcat," but to be honest I'm not really sure what does.
