I hate to outsource this, but I am finding little time to solve this problem. I have a workstation running Win98 that connects to a Novell 4.x server. The client/server apps all function flawlessly. All network resources are available through the server. This one workstation will not connect to the Internet. We have a 3Com LAN modem connected to the switch. When an Internet request is made, the LAN modem dials, connects and all is fine. 8 other PCs are sharing this connection with no difficulty. This one workstation will not connect to the net. It is a fresh install of Win98 and the PC did connect to the net while the PC was connected to my home LAN where I did the Windows re-install. After installing the Novell Client at work is when the trouble started.

I checked all the settings in Control Panel and configure them the same as the eight other PCs. I have tried everything I can think of. Are there any Novell CNEs/Gurus out there that can guide me??? Thanks!

BTW, there are no permissions or restrictions set by the server on this workstation and it doesn't matter who I log to the server as. It still doesn't work.

This doesnt sound likea novell issue. Im guessing the default gateway on the workstation is set to the IP address of the LAN modem. Double check your address and mask. Try pinging it. If all that fails...rip out novell client and everything network related even the nic drivers. Then find the most current novell client and nic drivers and see if it works.

I will try as you suggest NetWareHead on Monday. The NIC is a 3Com 3C905-TX managed and is using the latest Win98 drivers. When I installed the Novell client, I let it go through default and I think that somehow that is where my issue is, but I will install the latest Novell release and carefully monitor the installation. Thanks for the tips. I'll report back.
