NOTSOLVED How I get rid of KitKat upgrade notifications for Samsung Galaxy 3 SM-T210R

I am trying to keep JellyBean but get notifications to update to KitKat which I can put off every 3 hours but it is real annoying and I am afraid I or someone using it might accidentally install it sometime or that the upgrade will install it's self which I read happened to some users.
I don't want KK because I would lose write access to my mSD cards.
Does anyone know of a way to delete the OTA downloaded file and make it quit downloading it and trying to get me to install it?
One page mentioned that it might be possible using Kies but I don't see any settings anywhere for doing that.
Is there any way known to get rid of this, please share your knowledge.
Thank you.

I don't want my apps to lose access either. And I have had KitKat on another Galaxy tablet and did not like it at all.
I don't want it's "enhancements" that suck the life out of my battery and make it so my apps can't save my photos or videos to my mSD card.

You can either use titanium backup to basically freeze the upgrade software, or alter the build.prop file. First option requires root, and I believe the paid version of titanium backup. Second path will require research as I've never done it, I've just read about it.

I am trying to avoid rooting my tab, I had to do it to my other Galaxy because it was running KK and it was the only way to get access to my microSD cards.

if you don't root, you won't be able to block those notifications. Eventually it'll automatically update one day while you're sleeping and not able to press cancel when its looking for an OTA.

Of course, if he rooted he could take the update and circumvent the KK write issue anyway.

I still don't understand the issue anyway. After upgrading to KK nothing changed about my microSD access. I guess I just don't use it like others do, but I'm also unaware of how else you could use it.

if he's rooted he could run sdfix, which gives you write access back to the microSD. I understand not wanting to root your phone though as it could tick the knox counter (does the tab use knox counters?) but there's generally a way to reset knox.

I guess I will update and then root.
Does anyone know how much more battery kitkat uses up in comparison to JB?
There's always red triangle away if I needed it.
Is it possible to save my current firmware to my PC and if I don't like KK flash it back?
It is only a dual core processor which runs plenty fast now, but I am afraid that the bloat of KK will slow it down to where I can't play games(and it is a tablet not a phone).

is there another place to get the prerooted md5 file? That link that everybody shows goes into a site that asks for credit card info.

And what do I do once I root it? How do I make it quit downloading KK and get rid of the upgrade notifications?
Several searches on google have not answered these questions, they were all pages that assumed that I actually wanted to flash to KK.

//SOLVED(I think)Nope
//after I rooted it I read somewhere to simply go to settings>about>software updates and take a check mark out of the box there. It has only been 10 minutes but I feel confident that this takes care of the //problem but I wonder if any apps need updates or whether or not I can update them manually.
//Thanks to every one who tried to help.
//Any one know how I can delete the kitkat update that was downloaded?
Not solved it popped up again telling me to update, how do I get rid of this?
How do I alter the build.prop?

Get Titanium Backup or some similar app (JRummy ROM Toolkit is supposed to be nice, even the free one) and freeze the OTA system apps. What they're named depends on the device.

what's the name of the app I am trying to freeze?

Edit
One possible name for the app is "Software Update MUC".
Unfortunately I can't find the right file to freeze yet, I still don't know which file is causing the trouble.

Well for one example with unrooted KK on my Note 3, I couldn't use PowerAMP to delete a track if I no longer wanted to listen to it. I would have to plug the phone into my computer and delete it through Explorer.

Edit: For the OP: Root using Towelroot, then use Titanium backup to free the firmware updater apks. I don't know what they are called, though.

I already rooted and have titanium pro and froze 2 update files which I hope were the right ones to freeze.

Thanks I will try that file if the two I have frozen: UPDATEv2 and UPDATEV5 does not work, so far there have been no notifications.
