Noticable increase

I run F@H on 3 machines. 2 of them are at work, and one here at home. I always ran them as a regular program on each machine. I was crunching at about 100 pts a day combined.

A few days ago I installed them all as a service instead because I noticed at work my coworkers would log out at the end of the day but leave the pc running. I wanted the program to run all the time if possible.

Since then I've picked up an extra 35 pts a day because now F@H runs 24/7 no matter who is logged in or even if no one is logged in.

The point of all this: even if you have permission to run a DC project on machines at work or even other family members' machines, you should still consider running it as a service to get the most out of it.

Excellent! Glad you picked up on that. Another thumbs up!

Yeah I realize 99.9% of you who read this already know that stuff, but I was a little excited about it and wanted to share and figured at least a couple "newbies" who lurk in the shadows like me would benefit from it 🙂

Hey, glad to hear about your increased production. Thanks for sharing about it! 😀

Also, be sure to use 3.25 beta with -forceasm on Athlon XP's capable of SSE (such as the Tbreds and Bartons) for a significant increase in points (I got about 100 more points/week simply by upgrading my AXP from 3.24 to 3.25). 😎

I never did figure out how to run seti as a service. I tried a program I found on cnet, but could not get it right. 😱 If anyone knows a simple way to do this, please post. Thanks

I assume you've looked at the F@H Service Guide and found it too complex? There's one other way to do it, but it can sometimes be unreliable. If you're interested to test it out, let me know and I'll dig up a URL for you. 🙂
