Neat birds. I thought it was going to be about you getting a hummer from your wife/girlfriend while you were in your carport or something, though.

The younger nestling died last night. It looked dehydrated. The older one seems to being doing well, growing fast.

awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! we had hummers all over the place in our old yard, my mom and I used to enjoy them! I miss them!

Update 07/23/2006

All of the nestling's feathers are out of their sheaths. It is nearly full grown, spends a lot of time flexing its wings, and will likely fledge in the next 2-4 days. The mother spends lots of time with the young bird now, feeding it and keeping it from jumping out of the nest.

In order to keep flies off of the surviving nestling, we pulled the dead one out of the nest and buried it.
