I posted this on the general board before noticing there was a technical support board
......
I put this computer together yesterday

AMD64 3200+
Asus A8V
160 GB Western Digi HD
1gig ocz ram
9600 pro radeon

I updated the bios, the drivers etc.
But here's the problem:
When I turn on my computer after the POST tests, the screen goes black except for a blinking cursor in the corner. this lasts for atleast 1 minute, THEN WinXP loads.
Why is that?
Furthermore when I turn it on sometimes I get "CHASSIS INTRUDED" fatalerror, and it is caused by the keyboard being plugged into the USB port.
Plus when in windows the computer slows down A LOT doing stuff like opening Pinball etc.
The CPU Temp is at 29 degrees pretty much always
Can someone tlel me why all this is happening?

I think the cursor thing is normal. Check the mobo manual for the chassis intruded error, or check the security section of the CMOS setup. I've done a similar upgrade to my system barton 2500/ 1gig ram -> amd64 3000+ Asus A8V Deluxe. Adding more ram +512MB helped with launch times.

But I already have 1 gig of ram, I really dont think 90 sec launch times on computers now are....normal, to say the least.

What port do you have the hard drive plugged into? IDE or SATA? Heck, how to you have all your opticals/HDs hooked up? I ask because when I put an IDE drive onto the red IDE port, my mouse was jerky in XP.

You do have a CPU fan, don't you? I didn't see it in your list, but anyway, I suggest flashing the BIOS again. Also, try a Windows reinstall.

Well I dont know much about any new mobos, but to clear the 3d mark score up, if its 3dmark 05', and with that low-end 9600 pro theres no wonder why you got a 970.

Make sure there are no jumpers on that WD. Master setting on WD drives is with all jumpers removed.

My stepson just had to replace a failed drive. Bought a WD and got confused on the jumper settings. It would hang forever at boot and run slow afterwards. I had him pull the jumper and the thing took off like a rocket.
